Amazon.ca Order Issues

steeltekki

CAGiversary!
Apologies for the non-deal thread but i dont know where else to turn.

I find Amazon.ca is so notoriously bad when it comes to processing orders.

I should have been keeping track of all the instances, but the most recent is Rise of the Tomb Raider for PS4.

I have a preorder that is listed for delivery on release date (tomorrow 10/11) but it has not shipped yet.

I try reaching out to customer service but all it is is an exercise in frustration.

Even when I point out that my preorder for Gears of War 4, which of course has the same estimated delivery date of 10/11, shipped on Friday.

Is there anyone reading this that has a preorder for Rise of the Tomb Raider for PS4 that is having the same issue?

Or better yet, is there someone here that has a preorder and their order has already shipped?

Again, apologies for the non-deal thread but I just cant believe how awful the service is compared to amazon.com and was hoping to get some background from other customers

Yes, Amazon.ca sucks. They will miss "guaranteed" delivery windows. If you're not Prime and are using free shipping you should expect games to arrive a week late (if not more). Prime shipping is a free option and is queued to ship out after any *paid* shipping options, so it can arrive late too AFAIK.

Customer service will be useless if you bug them before the delivery window has passed. They'll just make up lies about the warehouse working on it, and claim it'll arrive even when you bug them with only an hour left. After the window has passed, uhh, they'll apologize. If you get lucky they may toss you a pittance of credit, or so I've heard, its never happened to me.

Even with Prime they will sometimes have fucked up delivery for some reason. Basically as soon as you go to place your order it should tell you that it has release day delivery, otherwise they won't even begin processing the order until after the release, even if it's express shipping or whatever. I assume it's some sort of glitch, and I'm not sure what randomly causes it, but it's annoying.

Typically I wind up getting my Prime extended (I'm about 7 months over at this point) and/or get $5-10 credits when I call or use the chat to complain. I find phone works better for most issues with them - using the chat is easy but I always end up with someone who can't figure anything out to save their life.

thanks so much for taking the time to reply guys.

I really appreciate it.

Tomb Raider did eventually ship today (and currently has an estimated delivery date of tomorrow)

They emailed me and gave me a 5 dollar credit.

The italian in me we wanted to call them back and ask for 11 more so i could go to EBgames and buy it full price but I had already wasted so much time on chats that I just forced myself not to.

(oh and yeah I'm a prime member)

Thanks again for weighing in guys

I only started having problems recently. It used to be fine, I was getting things on release date and sometimes the day before release. Recently though things have gone downhill. It's made even worse with all these recent Friday releases. If the shipment is delayed even by one day, then it turns into 3 days because of the weekend. It's sad because it was working so well, and I wish it would go back to the way it was.

I actually came here looking for something like this, and now I know it's not just me. I always hate using Amazon Canada because the games would always arrive a week after release using free shipping.

During e3 I used the free prime trial to get release day delivery on a few games. Well, the first one is up and i'm not impressed. Titanfall 2 was scheduled to ship yesterday and as of now it is just in the getting ready to ship phase.

Chat was useless, and kept saying it was guaranteed release day delivery and it is still scheduled to get here tomorrow. I asked why it was delayed and if it was bumped up to overnight shipping, and recieved the same reply.

It almost seems like Amazon Canada is trying hard not to get people to buy from them. I was so used to dealing with Amazon.com, that I still can't believe Amazon Canada is so bad, even after quite a few years of being here.

I usually got my games from best buy with their fast shipping even on free, but Amazon had games cheaper this time.

Being a gamer in Canada really sucks sometimes, especially now that games have gone to friday release. Either pre-order when there is a good deal, and hope it gets to you in a reasonable time, pay full price on release,  or wait a year (or 2) to drop to US level prices.

I never had much issues even before when I was not prime. They always seem to ship the order release day - 1 day so I get it on release day.
The only time I didn't get it on release day was my fallout pip boy edition but I got it a week after.

Same situation here. Titanfall 2 came out yesterday, the 28th, Friday. It's set to arrive on Monday, the 7th of November :|

I used free shipping of course, but usually it's NOT THIS BAD. Like, really, a WHOLE WEEK, man.

BF1 shipped on time, but Canada Post of course delayed it till Monday. So, I went to Toys R Us and bought it there. My Amazon copy arrived Monday, I tossed the TRU warranty sticker on that copy and brought it back for a full refund... played it first thing Friday morning and still only paid $49.96 :)

With Rise of the Tomb Raider, I pricematched the PRIME price at Best Buy, and paid $70, tax included.

I tried Amazon.ca for the first time this year for all my pre-order needs and not a single game has arrived even the week of release.

My copy of Battlefield 1 hasn't even arrived yet.

I have never NOT had problems with Amazon.ca pre-orders; they usually roll in a week or so late.

I just had a particularly hilarious argument with their customer service about Battlefield 1; I pre-ordered it back in June, and it didn't ship until 6 days after the official release. If I'd bought it on release day, I would have gotten it 2 days later, but if I pre-order, it takes them almost a week just to ship it out?

I've checked our record and see that this "Battlefield 1 - PlayStation 4 - Standard Edition" has been proven to be a very popular item and has become a surprise sellout.
When you placed your order, we believed we had access to more stock. However, all of our suppliers have rapidly sold out of this item.
We have many customer orders for this item and we're waiting for more stock from our suppliers. We are filling orders as quickly as we can on a first-come, first-served basis.

WAT. Literally the entire point of pre-ordering is to make sure that I get a copy of the game. *shakes head*

I suggest waiting for a deal at Best Buy --- they're usually pretty good at keeping on par w/ Amazon pricing, and their pre-orders actually show up on release day.
Failing that, you can always buy a copy of the game at a brick-and-mortar Best Buy on release day, then return the sealed game you get from Amazon once they actually bother to send it. I did that with FO4 last year... my Amazon copy didn't show up until 10 days after release.

UPDATE: I spoke with an Amazon CSR yesterday, basically giving her the run down that Titanfall 2 came out on Friday and it's ridiculous that it's set to arrive on the 7th of November. She said that because it hasn't shipped yet, she applied the fastest shipping method onto the order of Titanfall 2 free of charge to assuage the whole ordeal.

I have yet to see that S&H change applied when I goto my orders :| it still says shipping today, arriving on the 7th of November (next Monday).

We'll see how this plays out...

New UPDATE: Amazon are liars and fucking useless.

Me: Can you tell me when I'll be getting the game? I would have expected it to ship today if the shipping method was changed on Sunday :\

Amazon: Thank you for waiting.

Amazon: I've waived the shipping fee applied for your order and I checked and noticed that your order have entered into the shipping stage, in this case there is no need to concern, your orders will be shipped soon.

Once the order is shipped you will get a notification.

No need to concern, I've also forwarded this issue to my shipping team and requested then to ship the items as soon as possible.

Amazon: I'm sure that your orders will be shipped soon and you will get a email sooner.

Me: Okay, thank you. Can you tell me "soon" as in today? I thought the whole point of changing it to
PRIORITY on SUNDAY was so that it would ship, you know, TODAY, because it's priority shipping :|

Amazon: I checked and noticed that your order will be shipped at the earliest on Tuesday, no need to concern, you will get a notification email once the order is shipped.

Amazon: I'm sure that you will received the order sooner, no need to concern about the estimated date listed. It's just a maximum time frame.

Once the item is shipped out you will get the tracking number and estimated date via email.

Me: Okay...

Amazon: No need to concern, you will get your order sooner, I checked with my shipping. You will get your order sooner.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Is there anything else I can assist you today?
First CSR: said she changed it to priority free of charge, was actually priority with shipping charges.

Was it ever priority? Would have shipped today, Monday, if it was changed on Sunday, right?

Second CSR: said she waived the shipping charges, remains "priority," and that it'll ship tomorrow, Tuesday. Says I'll get it SOONER THAN WHAT IT SAYS. It STILL fuckING SAYS MONDAY NOVEMBER 7TH.

I forget what game, but I recently did just that and very nearly got screwed. My Amazon preordered copy arrived FOUR WEEKS after the release date, nearly cutting me out of the return window. The very day the game arrived I had to immediately run it to Bestbuy. Also, the game had a Day-1-edition which Amazon didn't send me, but Bestbuy still processed the return.

Bestbuy is a terrible company, and you should all be aware how they've treated their staff through stuff like the Futureshop shutdown and whatnot. Even so, I'm starting to feel bad abusing them, Amazon is worse than Bestbuy.

Sounds familiar. They gave me a similar song and dance: "sorry for the inconvenience; we have received your order and are preparing it for shipment now (on the 24th). We're upgrading your shipping to priority, and we expect it to arrive on the 28th (the 28th being the estimated arrival date all along)". Sure enough, it didn't actually ship until the 27th, although it did arrive on the 28th.
It's all just standard form letter response stuff.

I don't know why I bother any more, to be honest. The whole pre-order system is fucked from top to bottom; there used to be some value to it, but now it's just devolved into greedy developers and greedier retailers trying to sell games based on hype alone. :/

There are very few games that I actually get around to playing on or around their release date, anyway.

How so?

You aren't aware how Futureshop died? Employees found out about that the same way everyone did, they showed up and discovered the store was closed. They were fired on the spot, handed a termination cheque, walked into the store with security to collect any personal effects they may have had in their lockers or whatnot, and then tossed.

Guess they didn't want whistleblowers and any publicity right beforehand.

In terms of your shipping situation, you can easily get an additional 20% off due to the late delivery, just complain and you will get.

Also, return window is not based on when you ordered or when it is shipped. It is based on when it was delivered.

I complained about the month late game. I got nothing. Amazon claimed the manufacturer changed the release date, which was a feasible explanation if Amazon made the day-1 edition a different sku and fulfilled preorders with normal stock. The game in question was Grand Kingdom, if you look they have 2 identical identical listings for it right now at different prices.

Obviously I can't say I'm surprised but I finally got an email from Amazon with a delivery estimate for breath of the Wild (WiiU) and its listed as 3/8-3/10. Prime memeber etc etc

Finally got my ME:A order from two years ago honored with my recent Prime trial.

Game comes out on the 21st of March with an estimated delivery of 2-3 weeks? Nuh uh. Order page says standard shipping 3-5 days. Threw that in Amazon's face. It's outrageous how they're trying to fuck people over like that, because we got in on their promotion. "Back of the line, the one CSR told me." Bitch, what line? You're still taking pre-orders for this game and I ordered nearly two years ago, SO TELL ME WHAT LINE? I'm not subscribing to your fucking Prime service.

I'm going to try complaining and get them to extend the trail for a few weeks... need it for my order of persona 5

No Go.

Got some really rude associates that assured me release date delivery isn't guaranteed, some games don't have that option. Nothing they will and can do. I cancelled all my orders, think I can get them preorder for cheaper at eb games anyway with their current 2x trade in values

Shouldn't have done that.....you lost your 20%.

I would have retried with another associate and linked them to the linked page in my previous post.

It spells out pretty clear that it says RELEASE DATE DELIVERY

well I'm only keeping the ones I can't get elsewhere, the amazon trial for this is ending this month anyway so no real lost. The games I cancelled so far is just Nani no kuni, fire emblem for switch and xenoblades 2 for switch. For the two switch games, I was thinking I can find some cheap folders and have them preorder at eb games. Can probably get them cheaper if I put the work into it. The trial wouldn't have last for Nani no kuni anyway. I wanted them to extend the trial for 1 week so it covers persona 5 preorder, they never even bother offering anything after being extremely rude while just copying and pasting and giving me a run around about it not being guaranteed... I retried via phone and they just said if the same day delivery option isn't offered when you preorder, then it's not guaranteed and nothing you can do about it. I point out it's false advertisement and they just ignore that and said we're getting nowhere and will hang up. So they hung up.

Well I guess I'll just roll the dice to see if I get that discount, if not I'll just cancel, I had a friend preorder for me with her amazon trial so just not getting a backup copy.

It's weird though, my preorders are "being processed, will ship march.05", when the game is coming out for mar.03... if you were to cancel and remake the order you can get it same day, release date... that's pretty messed up.

It says my Horizon Zero Dawn and Breath of the Wild have been delivered... in Montreal :whistle2:| I can't believe how fucking useless Amazon are being right now.

Amazon page been saying I'll get Persona 5 tuesday (today before 8pm)... when I logged on today to check, it says it'll be delivered friday.... Fing useless

Best suggestion for those that have access... buy your games at Best Buy and pricematch Prime pricing on Amazon. You get it on launch and a slight bit cheaper.

I don't believe bestbuy price matches a service that requires membership payment...

Bestbuy is on the ball with on date delivery though, my ps3 order back from e3 promo came in today. Keeping it for gf if she ever plans to play.

They sent out another email saying the delivery date has changed again, should be getting it by tomorrow. Fingers crossed >_>

Trust me, Best Buy does pricematch Prime, and they do beat the difference by 10%.

I work there, and myself and others PM it often.. Plus Costco is paid membership and covered under the pricematching policy.

About Bestbuy, is their reward system broken? I know they did 25x rewards points with E3 orders last year, and some residual 10x points. I haven't really bought anything from BB since The Last Guardian. Persona 5 dropped yesterday, and they just gave me $40 in rewards certificates. The same thing happened with The Last Guardian CE and the FF15 steelbook, they showed up and they gave me $90 in rewards certificates. I assumed that was from previous games that shipped months earlier. I returned both those CEs, so today's $40 isn't from them...

So it seems like I'm getting more than 10x points? Plus the points kick out instantly?
