I am unfortunately in the individual insurance market.  Prior to ACA, my premium was 197 a month with a 1500 dollar deductible.  Medication was 10 for generic, 20 for non-generic.  Co-pay as 20 for primary, 40 for specialist. I was able to choose my doctor.  Now  I'm paying 271 a month with a 6000 dollar deductible.  I have no co-pay.  I pay full price for drugs and doctor's visits until I hit my 6000 dollar mark.  To me, having a 6000 dollar deductible makes my insurance somewhat worthless.  I would be ok with the higher deductible, if my premium wasn't so much higher.  I don't believe the ACA addressed them main issue that it was supposed to fix (Higher Costs).

My premium went up 50%, however Ill gladly take that increase for a 5,000$ decrease in my deductible, 10,000$ decrease in out of pocket maximum, and the inclusion of mental health services and all other decreased prices. So now Im at 338/mo for me and spouse with free preventative care, 15$ copays, 800$ deductible, 15% coinsurance post deductible up to the out of pocket max of 2500. Could have taken it down to only a 50$ increase but would have doubled the deductible and out of pocket, so seemed worth it for peace of mind

Previously I was at 200$/mo, negotiated prices for everything, 6000$ deductible and 12,500$ out of pocket max

Pays to switch to a job with much better healthcare options among other things

So sad. How much money and lives could have been saved by leaving Iraq alone and focusing on rebuilding Afghanistan I wonder?
How would things have turned out differently?
