I didn't see a thread on this, how many people use this?  I just started using it and it is awesome.  I uploaded 20 movies that I didn't have UV codes for for $2.00 a piece, but if you convert 10 you get

50% off. Just wanted to add a thread to get any ideas or FAQs about this.

Converting a DVD to HD Digital is $5, DVD to SD digital is $2.

Converting a blu-ray to HD Digital is $2.

Convert 10 or more and it's half off (so converting blu-ray is only $1). Can convert up to 50 movies at a time.

I love Vudu. Been using it for years. Not much digital only movie discussion on this site. Take a look at the digital thread over at Blu-ray.com.

Only issue is that some movies aren't on there for doing the conversion, like Despicable Me.   I've used in multiple times in the past few months and it's great for that.

I think OP means disc to digital.

Yes, it's a great service for converting your physical media to Ultraviolet (or getting older movies for cheap if you can find the DVD). Though of course only certain studios participate and no movies newer than maybe 2013 are going to work in home (you can bring in disc to Walmart to have verified).

Anybody know if you can pay with vudu credit? I have about $30 to burn. I know that you cannot use your credit to buy a DVD and digital combo from the vudu site. I've let numerous $5.50 credits from the T-Mobile Tuesdays promotions go unused and wasted because vudu movies are usually so expensive. But if you can use credit to buy the DVD to ultraviolet then I can just do two movies each time if they ever give it out again.

I'm not posting links because I'm not sure if it's allowed but if you like Disc To Digital, you'll really love Free2D

Don't let the "free" part fool you, you actually do still need to pay the same amount as if you had a disc ($2 for less than 10, $1 for 10+) but it has two benefits,

1) you don't actually need the disc to get the cheaper digital version

2) you don't actually need a Blu-ray drive to get the HDX versions

Obviously I'm not suggesting you redeem copies for discs you don't actually own but considering D2D has a problem reading many legitimate discs it's a great way to fill in your collection for titles that the D2D program doesn't read.

Note: not every movie that's part of D2D will work with Free2D and also it's limited to only the films that are part of D2D.

^Agreed. Free2D is awesome!

Yeah, I always used my T-mobile credits to do two movies at a time.

Man I wish I'd known that at the time. I hope they go back to vudu and drop the fandango now rental credit. At least I have a vudu app on all my devices. I can't get fandango on anything. Plus their terms make it seem like you can only use the credit for a rental where vudu just deposited the credit

Yes, its automatic. I had $60 credit from the USB $30 credit deal a few months back on Ebay to burn and this worked out perfect, turned that deal into around 30 movies so far.

I do this every few months with my older pre-vudu collections.   Stupid me threw out the digital copy codes that required you to put the disc in, register the disc and get the code to view it on your computer.  Got it to work ONCE with one of the Family Guys Star Wars movies but it was a PITA.   So I gave up.

Yes there are certain movies that it won't let you convert...for example the Star Wars Saga or any of the early marvel films starting with Iron Man 1.  At first The Wolverine unrated was not featured for digital when it was first released but now it is so I will have to convert that as well at cost.   I do notice that it will convert the movie only so you won't get the special bts features.   It did however upgrade my old ID4 copy to the remastered without being charged.

Walmart use to give out a LOT of vudu 5 dollar codes with their pizzas but I think people were stealing the codes (since they were exposed) and using them without buying the pizzas.

Don't know if the Indiana Jones movies can convert either.

Do you get 4k movies  if you do Instawatch when you buy 4k

I've thought about this before. It's doesn't seem to make a lot of sense that if you paid for the SD that you would have to pay full price to upgrade to HD. They are clearly using the DVD upgrade to Blu-Ray model for this but when it's digital that seems ridiculous. All you are doing is granting license to stream higher quality version. This is doubly frustrating when it is a movie that simply doesn't have a digital HD version currently so you can only buy SD but later on they may have an HD version. It causes me to usually not buy the movie at all.

Plus, for every one person willing to pay full price to upgrade I have to imagine they'd get far more willing to upgrade at a lower price than money lost by selling at full price.
