Now this is the calm before the storm and with an ad this weak it had better be Hurricane Matthew.

Great deal!  While I know everyone is chest bumping over the KS8000, but that is significantly more expensive and for the vast majority of people you'll not notice the $$$ difference unless both were setup next to each other.  (Source, myself I was a regional manager at Tweeter Home Audio and video for 4 years when that was still a thing).

Good input lag, good HDR, good motion blur handling, for the money the Sony is a nice set.

actually for the ks8000 if you go on SD yes i know we hate them lol but theres a thread if you ask for a EPP i had to pay 5 dollars for mine..you can order a ks8000 55" for 929 now but! was 720 2 days ago...maybe itll go down in price.. if you have discover and go through discover you get an additional 10% back so its better than this sony tv deal..i have an account and am waiting for black friday for the 65 to go cheaper..

My 4K tv has no HDR (sad frown). It is gorgoeus though and 65". If I didn't have it I'd be all over that PS4 Pro deal as I'm gonna get the Pro anyway (I think).

I personally would not buy a tv that doesn't support wide color gamuts but I like to be at least close to current tech when I purchase displays. If someone doesn't care about being very up to date then the PS4 Pro/TV deal is not bad. I also watch sports on my gaming tv so a 60hz panel isn't going to cut it, can't stand that blurry bullshit.

Read that rtings review, I guess this set has really high motion scores so I take back that last part. I stick by my first statement though.

That pro tv bundle is tempting. Will have to look into the tv and see if it's good. Hopefully BF ads pop up soon so I can see if they are doing any better bundles that day.

So to be clear, this is an outdated TV? I'm genuinely asking because I'm about to pull the trigger in the next few weeks on something in this price range.

Yes, not the worst set you could get but if you have waited this long not really a compelling reason to buy it either.

If you need something in that price range you might as well get it. The only downside to it is it isn't 120hz refresh. But to get a good tv that size with 120hz you would spend almost a thousand in itself. This however gets you a TV and a ps4pro. So if you're on a budget I say this is a good deal for you, go for it.

You can always upgrade our tv next year to something a lot better when prices slide down.

I also read this about the ps4pro. Overall it sounds positive. I'm getting one on the 10th to go a long with my new 4k hdr tv.

The TV on Amazon is $900, so basically for $100 more you get a free PS4 Pro, which is one way to look at it. Or buy a Pro and the TV is $600 more. Shame BB doesn't have such good trade in value for a PS4 which would have helped.

Tempting bundle but I will save up my pennies for something more, or perhaps a better deal on BF.

Wait so the Pokemon Dual Pack steelbook is only exclusive to Amazon but the dual pack itself is to be sold everywhere else? Looks like the Amazon copy might have the same packaging and just include an extra steelbook.

1) If the only HDR content you expect to use in the foreseeable future is HDR from PS4 games, does the lack of wide color gamut in the Sony X700D come into play at all (I'm assuming PS4 uses HDR10, or is that wrong)?  Or is that only a factor in terms of possible future-proofing in case a "higher" HDR format like Dolby Vision wins the format war over HDR10?

2) On Rtings they mention that the X700D has bad contrast ratio, but that if you use it in a well lit room (e.g. living room) this would not be as noticeable vs. if you used it in a dark room.  My question is how noticeable is "not as noticeable" for the numbers the X700D posted?  And how would that impact the effect of HDR (again assuming in a well lit room)... bad enough to cancel HDR out?

This stuff is confusing.

One can only hope there's a glitch that makes the bundle $300 instead of saving $300.  Anyone want a TV if that happens?

The Sony X800D is better since it supports wide color gamut. The 43" is $650 so if you don't mind the smaller screen size, for $50 more, the X800D is the better purchase for HDR/WCG alone. And Sony released an update for the TV that lowers the input lag even though it's already pretty low to begin with.

The 700D is shit. Sorry guys. It's IPS, so great wide angle picture but poor straight on contrast -- put another way, nice for sports with friends but inferior to VA panels for gaming, where you're usually right in front of the set. No wide color gamut and no local dimming means it won't actually show HDR. Like, not at all. It'll take an HDR10 signal and do its best to present it, but it won't be impressive.

For HDR you *absolutely* need a 10 bit penal with wide gamut, like the Sony 800D. You don't get the lighting / highlights HDR promises until you hit the Samsung KS8000 or Sony 930D or better.

If you just want quality 4K and don't care or can't afford HDR, you can get a Vizio D or Hisense 8C for about the same price as the 700D comes out to in this bundle. They have VA panels with better contrast and lower input lag than the 700D.

I want to buy the PS4 Pro but trying to get a TV with is confusing the hell out of me. Thanks for all the explanations guys, but I think I'm gonna wait on both the PS4 Pro and a new TV.

If I had a grand to throw away I'd do that TV/PSPro deal. Not a bad combo.

The New TV choices now are pretty simple, since the Samsung KS8000 is the only option if you want wide color gamut and the ability to show bright highlights. It's the cheapest of the big manufacturers' high end sets, and it's also the only one with good input lag while using HDR. Vizio is >60ms, LG OLED is variable and over >50ms on average, Sony 930D is almost 60ms.

How much of an issue is KS8000 being edge lit?  If you choose to turn off local dimming because of it, will the HDR still be impressive?
