I scan stuff at Target all the time, and I always find something for 0.00. I have tried once or twice to get it at 0.00 but never any luck. Any trick to this? Any way I can actually GET IT for 0.00? I'd like to know cause mine has a nice Aliens Vs. Predator with a 29.99 sticker that rings up 0.00 that I wouldn't mind getting free.

:D

I had a kid ask me if I had any change on me when a copy of Amplitude rang up 0.00 and I said "yeah, 50 cents" he said, "ok." pressed a few buttons and BANG, Amplitude for half a buck.

Yes I have once. It was MegaMan Zero (GBA). I just got lucky and got a complete moron in electronics.
My total purchase was only $4 and change (with the game ringing up at $0.00), the guy just looked at it and said "man that's a cheap game".
So I quickly paid and left.

When an item rings up at $0.00, it means the item is out of the system. Usually when an item rings up for $0.00 it prompts the cashier to enter a price and, the cashier enters the sticker price on the item or gets someone to use a LRT hand scan gun to look up the last selling price.

It really depends on the cashier though. I had a Red Sony PS1 Memory Card ring up $0.00 and I knew it was supposed to be 75% off. The cashier asked how much I was willing to pay for it, I told him it was supposed to be 75% off and $3.75 and he keyed in a price of $3.75 to the register. I probably could have said I would pay a $1 and he would have just entered it into the register but I didn't think about it at the time

They aren't supposed to. When that happens, they are supposed to get the little handheld readers that they carry around, and it will show them the lowest price that the product had sold at. That is what they give you the game for.

It's not marked on the product 0.00, so you can't induce them to sell it to you at that price because it was mismarked, and the product itself won't scan through the register normally.

So the short answer is, yes, you probably could, but it isn't likely.

i bought iron storm (pc) for $1.48 b/c it came up as $0.00 on the scanner. they told me to take it to customer service though and she used a hand scanner and it showed up as $1.48. oh well, it's not free, but it's not bad for a game that's only a year and a half old. :D

Does that only happen on the older led screen scaners? I scanned a ton of games at my target and alot came at item not found. It has a little 5" lcd screen.
I've never heard of this before. Is there a list of games that this happens to? Or is it very YMMV?
Every clearence item will eventually ring up at $0.00 in the Target computers. Most of the time the items don't last long enough.
If one does pop up it's only because it was misplaced or hidden some where in back or under some stuff in an isle.

If you find a O or penny game, make sure you dont bring it up all by itself. Buy alot of smaller groceries and things and chances are they wont even notice. I've had alot of luck on the 1 cent Zelda disks doing this
