Does anyone use this Seagate external hard drive worth their X1?

Haven't used it, but for the same price (taking into account the Newegg $10 off promo code), you can get this 5TB Seagate external from Amazon. It just needs to be plugged into power, unlike that one you linked which is USB powered. This is the one I was thinking about getting.

Edit: Went ahead and pulled the trigger. I should never run out of space with this thing hooked to my X1.

I was looking at that as well! But the Newegg reviews had me back off...

I've been going back and for for an hour, trying to figure out what I wanted, as even the WD drives seems to have a bad reputation on Newegg.

I like the idea of not having to plug into an outlet, as my power strip already has a t.v., bd player, ps3, 360, X1, and hard drive (for the 360) and audio receiver plugged into it! But I don't want to slow the X1 down either, if that's what happens w/a USB powered drive.

Both of these links rank external hard drives in reference to use w/the X1. But you just never really know how reliable they are, you know?

Both seem to lean toward the plug-in Western Digital MyBook. $127 on newegg. I'm leaning that way at the moment. But damn it...I think I'm just going to wait until tomorrow is over and see if anything goes up or down.

Crazy the amount of deals that went on sale today!

True, but it does have decent Amazon reviews FWIW. Another thing to keep in mind is that people are way more likely to leave a review about a negative experience than a positive one. And even the best rated drives have lemons here and there.

Got my hard drive yesterday and transferred about 1TB of games to it so far. Hopefully I got a good one and not one of the rare bad ones.

It's still on sale at Amazon if anyone else was interested in it.
