Thought it would be fun to run some kind of contest to go along with the NFL Playoffs, so I'm giving away a new, sealed copy of Gears of War 4 for the XBox One. The winner will also receive a code for a digital copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Much thanks to CAG waltercartman for providing the Halo MCC code. Here's how the contest works:
1. Each week of the playoffs, through the Super Bowl, you'll post your predictions for all of that weekend's games, including final scores.
2. Points will be awarded based on picking the winners, as well as how close your predicted scores come to the actual final scores. Point totals for each week will be added to your overall total. UPDATE: I added one more scoring category- (+30) points for getting the score exactly right. Those 30 points would be in addition to the 40 or 50 points you get for correctly picking the winning team. UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: Picking the exact right final score is now worth even more! I've decided to bump it's value up to 60 points, making it even more of a potential game changer....PLUS, if you nail the score on the head, I will pm you a code for $10 in Microsoft currency. Even if you're dead last in points, you can still win something!
3. After the Super Bowl, whoever has tallied the most points, wins the contest, and gets the sealed copy of Gears of War 4, and the code for the digital copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
Here's how the scoring works:
If you pick a favorite to win and they do........................................(+40 points)
If you pick an underdog to win and they do..................................(+50 points)
If the team you picked to win loses...............................................(-10 points)
Each point you're off by with your prediction for each team..........(-1 point)
If you get the final score exactly right............................................(+60 points, and $10 in MS money)
For example, if your prediction for the Green Bay vs. New York game is a 23-20 Packers win, and the Packers end up winning the game by a score of 31-17, you would get 40 points for picking the winning team, minus 11 points for the score differential between your prediction and the actual result (8 points off of Green Bay's actual score, plus 3 points off New York's actual score), giving you a total of 29 points for that game.
IMPORTANT- You must enter before this weekend's games. The deadline to enter is kickoff of the first game of wildcard weekend (Saturday, January 7th, 4:35 EST) No new players will be allowed to join the contest after the deadline. Also, if you do enter, please remember to come back and make your picks for the divisional round of the playoffs next week. Point totals will be cumulative through the playoffs and Super Bowl.
Wildcard Weekend matchups: (All of the home teams are the favorites, visiting teams are underdogs)
Oakland Raiders at Houston Texans
Detroit Lions at Seattle Seahawks
Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers
New York Giants at Green Bay Packers
