Free Xbox One Media Player APP

This maybe useful to some since the Xbox media player has really bad codecs. It is Media Player Ultra for Free and works on the Xbox one. Its not perfect, but does work. It says it's usually like $35 so get it while it's free.

Thanks for the info.  Is this app free as part of a larger sale or promotion?  It says the price will change in 8 days.

Good for those who'll use it tho.

It's normally $35 and it costs nothing - if nothing else, it'll make for a nice media player if I ever want to turn my X1 into a media hub. Thanks!

The demo was awesome I can't wait to play the whole thing. Might get an extra for a friend of mine since he is getting bored of destiny.

Sorry, I'm not downloading apps made by a random company onto my console.  Who knows what sort of data it's sending back...

All *shipping kills it* joking aside, doesn't MS police its own App Store, especially the Xbox version, to prevent viruses adware or Gawd forbit pirated Xbox games?

One star deal rating? Sheesh. Spoiled people upset about a free app. This looks pretty awesome, I grabbed it. Hopefully it'll do a better job with some file formats than the official media player.

We're now starting to get into the territory of Windows 10 apps on Xbox being useful. Hopefully Kodi makes its way over someday.

Fixed. Three votes. I gave it a five star rating because I care.

It turns out the app sucks and you're still better off using Plex. But oh well.

Not sure if they do. Was browsing apps in the Xbox store and noticed there were some that play new movies that are still in theaters

Do you really care if someone knows what you play or watch on Netflix?

I'll check it out, although the official built-in media player on X1 does a great job already (leagues better than the garbage PS4....) I do find that once in a blue moon there may be a video that it can't read for whatever reason. I'll have to test and see if this app can handle them.

By far the best media setup is on the PS3, only reason I still have it hooked up.  Playing movies in 1.5 speed is the best.

Apparently it's a Windows 10/XB1 hybrid app. I grabbed it on my Windows 10 pc and it auto installed on my XB1. Neat! Sadly on the XB it doesn't seem to play stuff that's on my network share. Says it will play off of a USB drive though.

Thanks for the info. Personally never had an issue with standard media player and reviews on this more or less say clumsy but has potential so buy now for free with hope one day it'll be viable option. I was able to find on x1 by typing media into search in app section.

I use the "regular" media player from a Universal Media Server on my PC to handle the transcoding, would be nice if something would play the files natively.
