Would this computer be a good starter gaming pc?

You could build one from the ground up cheaper and upgrade to a  newer 1060 gtx card and have a bigger hard drive and possibly an ssd.

The 970 is a great card i have 2 970 ftw's in sli.

Since the newer card release the price dropped on them cards people are selling used ones for 150.

In computers it is pay me now or pay me later but you will pay me.    Get the best and most your budget can buy.

I'm going to echo what gepet0 said... While this isn't a complete ripoff, you're better off building your own from the ground up. I built my first this past year and not only was it the "best deal", I also learned a great amount by doing so.

I'm not sure if you saw this post on Reddit a couple of days ago but it goes more into depth about whether or not this is a "good deal".

After reviewing that Reddit post again, someone posted a prebuilt that's cheaper with better components - http://www.microcenter.com/product/471280/Aspire_AT3-715A-UR11_Desktop_Computer

I highly recommend that build over the one from BB.

There are a lot of sites that can help you build a system. Pcpartpicker is a good site for that. And watching a few youtube videos will help. It is not a very hard thing to do. I've built a few dozen over the years and never had any problems.
