Sony seems to be low stocking these. Was sold out for the holidays but only sold like 250k. I guess demand isn't that high yet.  Really waiting for scorpio to release to see if they make PS4 Pro standard at $299.

For most people, it's not worth the upgrade or the extra $.  The slims were as cheap as $212 on Cyber Monday on Amazon.  Not only was it almost half the price of the Pro, it came with UC4 for free.  The Pros were not on sale at all unless you did some workaround like the eBay/Overstock thing.

The average consumer doesn't see the value in the Pro to make it worthwhile.

Uhh, no. Best Buy had the slim on sale for $250 with a $50 gift card, not the Pro.

Agreed. I would have upgraded day one if it had a 4k blu-ray drive. That was a dealbreaker for me. Now the only reason I would upgrade for the right price is better VR performance.

I'm a bit irritated that it's only a 1GB hard drive. I thought for the money they should've at least upgraded that to 2GB. My guess is later on down the line, when God of War 4 or Last of Us 2 or something releases, we will get a blood red colored PS4 Pro with a bigger hard drive and the game bundled with it.

I don't see the point if my original PS4 comes with most of the ports that are on the PS4 pro. And I don't have a 4K tv

I always thought the cost that went into the 1 TB HD could have gone into a 4k blu-ray player while maintaining a $400 price point with similar margins (IDK all the numbers but the X1S having one makes me think it can't be back breaking). At least for me, a 1 TB HD is getting replaced anyway so I'd rather the cost go somewhere else.

HDDs are dirt cheap and wouldn't save them money unless they literally didn't include a hard drive at all. I'm fairly certain the only reason that the 4K BR was omitted was so Sony could sell more of their $400+ dedicated 4K Blu-Ray players. There is no way a $300 XB1S with free game that was repeatedly on sale for $250 could afford one, but the PS4 Pro at $400 with no bundled game couldn't.

I've seen repeatedly on neogaf & other sites that the reason the 4K player was omitted was cost (this is probably just a big pile of bullshit from Sony fans). Not that their word is gospel nor your reasoning (similar to mine) is bad, but at the end of the day a console that is supposed to be taking advantage of 4K TVs not having the same player as the $250 X1S is a huge disappointment.

If you don't have 4K and don't have HDR, there's truly not much point!

Well, I've read Battlefield 1 will run faster in regular mode in regular tvs giving those players and edge. Up to the individual to decide if the extra edge is worth an upgrade. I would imagine it is milliseconds.

ratchet & clank downsampled to 1080p made me a believer. so gorgeous. really excited that more first, especialy horizon, and third party games will be getting the same.

I've truly heard that's not the case since there are games that just run better on it. You don't need 4k or HDR to take advantage of that.

Sony messed up bigtime when they didnt mandate upgrades for Pro. 1080/60 should be the standard but letting devs do whatever they want really fragments the whole point of "upgrade".
