So looks like I'll check it out after work Thursday. If it's too crowded though I'm just going to say forget it. 25% isn't much better than GCU and they didn't have anything must have I couldn't get elsewhere at my store. It'd be nice to make one last purchase from TRU though so I will definitely get something before it's all over.

I assume this will mean a lot of the good stuff will never make it to the shelves for us to buy? Employees will buy or hide all the good games and other stuff they want from the customers?
Possibly. I don't know how thorough the liquidators are going to be, but the fact that they are probably selling EVERYTHING including fixtures and shelves might mean hiding places will be found. I know at least one employee that was going to try and hide stuff in some ceiling tiles in the back to wait for a discount.
If this company just comes in occasionally to re-price shit, then the stuff people want will be held as much as they can manage. At some stores, I'd imagine stuff will just be straight up stolen. Since they aren't fulfilling online orders in store anymore, there isn't really any obvious way that stuff would be found missing. One of the co-workers that picked up a shift at an earlier closing store said they had really stopped giving a shit and scanned out literally ALL items from the back of house, so finding anything was a nightmare.
I'm for either a new thread or an update to the OP too. We clearly have a lot of people not reading the overall thread or we wouldn't keep seeing "nothing is on sale yet" post.

ShinAkuma you're doing amazing work my friend.
Well truthfully I still work there at the moment (had been looking for a new job well before the announcement though), and it quite literally is sad this was even a thing I had to do in order to learn anything for myself or those I work with. There are definitely things the company doesn't own for fixtures and a few other things, so you won't be able to buy some stuff you see. As far as the reasoning for a new thread or update of the OP is concerned, I believe it is the thing to do because nothing on that OP applies any longer given liquidators now run the show and set the policies, all of which are different now.

If any fellow employees are here, keep in mind your discount is gone after tomorrow. I'm not sure there would be much of a reason to buy anything tomorrow over waiting for the liquidation prices, but if the jacking up to original MSRP strategy is accurate I know there would be many games that are cheaper before liquidation.

If wave 2 follows the same as wave 1, the prices in the system freeze at the start of liquidation. The liquidation company only sets the % discount schedule and have no say as to change prices on items.

Just notice a lot of gaming hardware no longer show up online for pickup, have they been sent back to warehouse or you have to hunt store to store for these?

The pickup option should have been disabled for all items on the website in anticipation of liquidation starting.

Sales for my store start either the 22nd or 23rd, after the liquidation company has come in and set up shot.
Are they still taking return?
Have an web order coming in tomorrow but I might want to return it.
seems @ShinAkuma has answered by question, I guess I have 30 days to return it.

So why do they have big signs that say nothing held back, yet things like Legos and diapers are not part of the liquidation?

Those are generic signs that all stores use for liquidation, not just TRU.

As a kid I loved buying nintendo games. You has to pull the little slip and take it to the cashier to purchase. And then after purchase you take the slip and the receipt to a little window and someone goes and pulls you game.
I felt so cool and happy walking up to that window.
God, this takes me back.

So are game consoles going to get 10% off only?
We don't really know yet. All we know is that other stores had them for around 10% off already. I definitely wouldn't expect to see big discounts on consoles though.

I really wish my TRU would just dig a bunch of these out of their back room and I could buy these during the liquidation sale! I loved going to TRU as a kid and seeing this display and grabbing the slips. TRU has not been the same for many years now, but what is even sadder to me is that kids growing up won't get to experience the magic of Toys R Us like we did.

I don't know if they'd bothering selling them, but those pouches are still used for bikes and the like.

They started using them again for Switch in some stores.

According to USA Today, the liquidation sale begins Thursday, March 22nd (Tomorrow, as of this posting). The sales will go clear through til June, presumably with stores closing as they sell out of things.
While I'm sad to see the stores close, I'll be there right away to take advantage of this opportunity.

Is that 10% off for console also applies to accessories or accessories have different discount? Really love to nab the Switch Pro Controller down the road with bigger discount.

By the time the discounts are really deep you'll be hard pressed to find anything worthwhile, I went a couple times over the past week and it was a crazy shit show off people thinking sales had started already

Not even going to bother going at opening tommorrow, I can expect a lot of gross people to be lining up and overall being nasty to each other for $20 bucks off a game or two.

If even that, it's probably gonna start at 10%

Yeah, I don't imagine it will be worth going at open tomorrow, if at all. If it isn't too busy on my way home from work tomorrow I am going to stop in and check it out, but I will not bother if it is busy.

Yeah I've done a fair amount of shopping at going out of business sales over the years. It will usually start at like 10% and then slowly go up a bit (hence the closeout being ongoing until June). For anyone on this website my guess is this sale won't have prices we care about for a little while yet.

Would it be correct to assume that price-matching in-store would end today with liquidation starting tomorrow? Thanks
