Does anyone have any advice on the safest way to sell locally or any apps that they've used to sell locally?

I see ads for all these apps where you can sell locally but was wondering how safe is it? I've never sold anything for local pick up (Craigslist, eBay) but I got some large items, mostly speakers and soundbars, that I wanna sell but shipping is just WAY too much.

I know how local PD has/recommends using their stations to do transactions but am curious as to what to do if a buyer wants to test the item out? Or what if they get home and say the item doesn't work after buying it?

It sounds like you have already done your homework regarding the safest places to meet up and carry out the transaction. I'm not sure how to address the buyers concerns that the item will work or not. If it's a public place like a police station, you may be able to bring the items inside and plug them in an outlet in the lobby. After they exchange money with you, I would consider the transaction complete. You can offer them the option of contacting you if the item doesn't work when they get it home but that opens you up to potential scammers.

Trust your instincts. I can tell almost immediately from emails and texts if that's someone I want to do business with. If their grammar is bad, they don't bother introducing themselves (a first name is fine), or their sentences make no sense, I stay away
