PS Vita: What games are must plays? Cheap games? Help!

Willemthefoe

CAGiversary!
I have had a vita for years. I got it the day it was released actually.
But I have barely played it at all. I have like 2 physical games for it and a few downloaded, but my Ds/3ds always seemed better. Well now I'm seeing a few games for vita at good prices but I have no idea what games are worth their salt!

Can anyone help me fill out my library with some good games/cheap games I should get?

(P.s. I REALLY prefer physical copies of games over digital. Thanks!!)

A lot of Vita library is very cheap these days I think, aside from some notable niche games, or limited releases (the LRG releases). You really need to have a specific taste to fully enjoy the Vita.

Vita has portable, albeit downgraded versions of PS4/PS3 titles if portability is your thing. Most of the ports are servicable as well, but set your expectations.

Without knowing your taste, here's a brief rundown of some (physical) releases I enjoyed, or have yet to enjoy, on my Vita:

Deception 4: Blood Ties [Available on PS3; Nightmare Princess version available on PSN digital only]
Dragon's Crown [Available on PS3]
Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky [Available on PS4; very cheap on Amazon right now]
Freedom Wars [If you like MonHun, did not enjoy as much as Soul Sacrifice]
Final Fantasy X/X2 [FFX physical only; FFX2 included as a code; Also available on PS3/PS4]
Soul Sacrifice [If you like MonHun, I loved this game a lot; "Delta" release digital only]
Grand Kingdom [Available on PS4]
Gravity Rush [Available on PS4 remastered]
Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational [Only like $3 on PSN right now]
Jak & Daxter Collection [Available on PS3]
Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel [Available on PS3]
Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 2 [Available on PS3]
Lost Dimension [Available on PS3]
Natural Doctrine [Available on PS4]
Persona 4 Dancing All Night
Persona 4 Golden [Obviously]
Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen [Tenchu!]
Shiren the Wanderer
Tales of Hearts R
World of Final Fantasy [Available on PS4]
Ys: Memories of Celceta
Lumines: Electronic Symphony
Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir [Available on PS3/PS4]

The list above is a great place to start. I would also add that the ability to play PS1 titles is also a nice place to start. I never played the first Klonoa game or FF IX. The vita has given me the chance to do that

I'll add...

Killzone Mercenary [best fps on vita]

IA/VT [music rhythm game]

Resistance burning skies [scifi fps
, great story]

tearaway [fun platformer] It's also on ps4

world of final fantasy [ turn based jrpg] also on ps4

Woa! Thanks so much for that awesome list man; that is EXACTLY the kind of list I was looking for!

Really appreciate all the input, just nabbed exist archives for $12 on amazon!

Thanks again! Loving this list!

Do you have to play previous "Persona" games too understand what is going on in the game? I've heard a ton about Persona but I don't know much about it other than the fact that people are hyped about Persona 5 lol

persona is like final fantasy in regards that each sequel is a stand alone story with reocurring mascot enemies and mascot npc characters.
there might be a few reference nods to past characters but overall you don't need to know previous games to enjoy whichever you start at.

You absolutely do not have to play previous Persona games to understand 4. Playing Persona 4 might help you understand why people are hyped for Persona 5. Be warned the intro is a bit long-winded before things finally start happening.

Another thing I should mention about Vita is that there's a lot of Visual Novels (VNs). Some of them are kinda girly, but there's a few stand out ones. I recommend the Danganronpa and Zero Escape games.
