Aaaannndddd sold out. Nice job Nintendo. You just made your expensive dlc even more ridiculous.

Missed it too, but I just don't care anymore. NFC tags cost 50¢ a pop and I can make my own easily. I'll still buy ones that I like and can, but if I cannot there's little point in stressing about it.

True. Unfortunately these are pretty sweet figures from a great series.

Sorry for the derail, but I have a regular 2DS. Someone fill me in on what I'm supposed to do to unlock the Metroid stuff that's locked behind Amiibo? Especially with this 50c tags talk, WTF?

Got a good link you PM regarding the process to make your own?

Sure. If you have a NFC capable Android (it was a common feature for like 2013-2016 Androids) you can just install TagMo:

https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-tagmo-tool-for-creating-editing-amiibos.431670/

Then you look at eBay for some NTAG215's. They're cheaper in bulk, and why not get a bunch? You might pay a buck a pop if you want something from a North American seller, Asia is cheaper but takes forever.

There's something else you obviously need which I shouldn't post, they're easy enough to find on Google? Or you could just PM me...

Thanks good enough as a starting point. I guess I also meant to ask that I need a dongle of some kind for the 2DS to read the tag though?

and once the extra content is unlocked on the cart, will it "follow" when I use the cart on another 3DS?

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure the 2DS needs some dongle thing. I think the n3DS is the only model with built in support.

I haven't used a lot of the Amiibo content, but AFAIK the in game functions are all YMMV. Some things should be permanent, some things might need it every time. Nintendo has a FAQ, and a compatibility chart which might be helpful:

Snagged the Metroid 2-pack myself. Wish my staff discount worked online, but it's easy enough to apply it afterward in store.

Took this at local walmart
