Is Call Of Duty Dying?

It's boring and iterative. I've been skipping every other year it seems. They are too much of a me too game series instead of time to innovate. I mean next year they're going back in time too, likely cause BF1 did very well. They're never purely terrible (Ghosts might be though), but yeah that's about it.

The rise of sim-style shooters has destroyed the series. Call of Duty isn't wacky enough to be an arcade shooter and it's not realistic enough to compete with Arma or Battlefield. They need to pick a lane and stick to it.

I really hope it dies out for good. Move on to something new finally.
Why do you want something to die that millions enjoy? If you don't like them then don't buy them, it really is that easy. It sitting on store shelves has no impact on at all. Besides I could name a dozen shovelware games far worse easily but even those are obviously are enjoyed by someone somewhere, I just don't play them.

I think the franchise needs something different.  Something more than just some new gameplay mechanics (i.e. liding, lean, wall jump) and new weapons.

Last year was a huge year for FPS in general. Hard to sell as many copies when you have Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, Overwatch and I feel like I'm forgetting one all take big chunks of the same market. Wouldn't be surprised if sales are up this year with Battlefront 2 being the only other big FPS that comes to mind this fall.
