I'm looking forward to it. My biggest complaint about Mario Kart 8 was that the lack of a battle mode really made the replayability drop. I used to spend hours in Mario Kart Wii's battle mode.

People can complain about Nintendo re-releasing the same game for $60 all they want, but I'm looking forward to a handheld Mario Kart that I like (I wasn't really a fan of MK7). Now if only Amazon would ship my pre-order that's supposed to be delivered on Friday...

Same here. I contacted Amazon today because it's showing scheduled for delivery today but hasn't shipped yet. They said that they didn't get their stock from Nintendo in time and gave me a $5 credit to cover the inconvenience. I just want to race!
Looks like Amazon has owned up to the issue. Mine was shipped USPS (meh) from California (yuck), so it's going across the US, so I doubt I'll be getting it on Monday like they claim. But they did send out an email saying they were giving anyone impacted a $10 promotional credit.

Since I only paid $42 + tax for the game (10% off mover coupon + 20% prime discount), a $10 credit for the delay is more than acceptable since Amazon is owning up to the screw up. I dislike that it took until 7pm today, though, for them to come clean.

I picked this up yesterday and it's so great.  Perfect update to a perfect kart racer.  We're having a lot of fun with it.

Update: Got my copy today, somehow. I've only booted it up and done one Grand Prix but it's Mario Kart 8, on a handheld. It's the good parts of playing the Wii U version on the Gamepad, without the awkward thickness of the Gamepad.

I'll be spending many hours in battle mode over the coming days, I am sure.

my right joy con has started making a strange noise since the first time I put in Mario kart. It legit made me look if the joy cons have a speaker. Anyone else have such a thing. Can't find anything online. It makes like an echo sonar type noise sometimes after drifting which makes me think its related to the "HD rumble" as I never heard it playing zelda. But the noise is so non mechanical.

See Nintendo is still behind everyone by years. All the developers & publishers support their games with updates that throw in tweaked improvements and even new features. Nintendo actually could add these revisions to the Wii U version, which I play quite regularly, via an update AND also release the Switch "deluxe" edition but it's 2017 and Nintendo is like a decade behind everyone else.

I'm all about that balloon battle and the 1080 at 60 fps looked super sharp.

You mean new features like 200cc mode, or the two DLC packs that they had for Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U? I can understand not re-releasing this on the Wii U, especially since that's a dead console.

I've been playing and I've noticed that on the pro controller at least, turning on the autosteer is relatively easy to do. It's easy to turn it back off but man can that kind of catch you off-guard in the middle of a race when it corrects your line.

I will soon have my copy of Mario Kart 8 deluxe! Then it will be time for online game night!!!

A quick funny and kinda sad story. I was leaving on a trip/vacation that just happened to be the day the game launched. I left before the store opened. I had a physical copy preordered. At least I breath of the wild to play :)

With the 70% GS trade-in deal, I was able to turn my physical copy of MK8D into an electronic copy for .30 cents.

I can't recall if the auto accelerate feature was in the Wii U version of the game, but it makes playing on the individual Joy-Con a lot easier (particularly the left/neon blue Joy-Con).

I recently dug out my Wii from storage and had a blast playing four player Mario Kart Wii with some friends.

Does MK8D feel as broken as the wii version? There was a heavy dose of luck in that game with items, to the point where player skill seems to mean very little. Any thoughts on if the new version seems more balanced?
