I don't know if this is the right thread for it but does anyone have any ideas on a Switch restock or a future decent sale on new PS4s at GS? I brought myself up to $310 with probably the last of my old junk trades. I don't really want to risk used hardware after some bad experiences in the past.

From what I've read Microsoft is forcing developers to do super sampling for all games while Sony let's developers decide what modes they want to run.

If your debating an Xbox x or PS4 pro, the major difference aside from power would be that xbox has a 4k blu ray player, pa4 pro only streams 4k content, which really isn't 4k due to current internet deficiencies... the major benefit to me for the PS4 pro was the added power to psvr. It really has helped psvr performance. I also concur not expecting a price cut. Sony doesn't do them very often...
I'm debating whether or not to upgrade my 500gb PS4 slim to a Pro. I have an XBOX ONE S so if I were to pick up the Pro it would just be because of the difference in the game play.

The viewing angles suck and there are some backlighting issues but it is by far the best value HDR 4k set out there. A friend of mine got one and for the money it can't be beat. I keep a 50" tv next to my computer desk for my xbox one s and will be upgrading that for one of these.
Be careful with some if not all TCL tvs and PS4 pro. I have a 55" 4k non hdr, and there is a problem with the way it reads HDMI from the PS4 pro. Half the time the image won't show up and it's a pain in the butt to get to work. It's a pretty widespread problem that vizio had as well, but vizio released a patch to fix theirs. TCL has not. Just reccomending you research any TCL model and PS4 pro compatibility before purchasing, if that is your setup...

He has had his hooked up to a PS4 pro since he got it, no handshake issues yet that I've heard of. He is running a denon receiver though not going straight through so maybe that helps?

Some better load times, but aside from Psvr improvements you won't find much improvement to playability.

I personally would keep the Slim. There probably won't be much gameplay advantages with the Pro, just mainly better resolutions, load times, etc. You just gotta ask yourself if that's worth it to you. Just remember that your Slim also does HDR and it's most likely more quiet.

I know there were a bunch of issues with lack of discretion over the weekend, and see the usefulness of having a secret group, as as I even ran into another customer who had seen about Flippagedon online somewhere and was complaining about it to the Gamestop staff, as I was trading said products in...
However, even without access to any secret sheets, I made out with a bunch of credit and cool new pickups, including a PS Vita w/ a 64 Gb memory card. As a long time member of this (mostly) wonderful site, I really want to thank the people who were supportive of the weekend's endeavors, even to those who hadn't done this sort of thing before. I sure haven't done anything like it and I'm very thankful of my new handheld. I'm loving the Vita more than I thought I would.
Heck, I even saw on here a teacher and head of their schools video game club, pick up three new systems for his kids. Isn't that an awesome story?
I'd like to see more support of things like that around here rather than the elitist attitude that permeated a lot of the now bombed thread.
Again, this weekend was awesome, so thank you to all you that had posted the FAQ and the helpful tips leading into it.

Nah, it happens on a system level so its just automatic, whereas for the Pro developers have to implement it themselves. IDK that's what I got from reading it Im not a tech expect by any means so I can be misinterpreting it lol But I do think devs have been lazy with the pro support so far by not including it in every game, hopefully now that the X1X will the Pro will follow suit cuz it really makes a big difference.

Could be he specific model I have as well, but it is very frustrating. Sometimes I have sat down to play and just can't.

It's supposed to allow them to Max everything out and the system just takes what it can handle automatically or the devs can choose what to effects to keep. From my understanding forcing super sampling can mean you might not be able to run a game at 1080p/60fps where if there isn't super sampling it can.
I do want to see how much of a noticeable difference the pro and x will have on 3rd party considering all 3rd party games are using checkerboard rendering to get 4k like the pro does and not native 4k.

Always wanted that PS4 since the day they announced it. Huge Black Ops fan lol. My friend has it and it still looks slick.. too bad they're unlikely to do more CoD special edition consoles.
Anyways, thanks for the PS4 Pro discussion guys! I figured since I'm going to need a PS4 system eventually to play the upcoming exclusives, I might as well future proof and get the Pro.

I am firmly in the camp of the Pro not being worth the extra money.
It's larger, louder, and looks fucking ugly.
The difference in games is negligible unless you're on a 4K TV that supports proper HDR.
To be fair, its not like the slim looks much better. And while I cannot say for non 4k tv owners but since I upgraded to the Pro on my 4k tv there is no way I could go back to the Slim at this point. Games like UC4 and HZD look absolutely stunning on the PRO, and with Xbox forcing all the developers to make their games super sample and everything else now, more and more games if not all will come out with PS4PRO support which means its going to be even that much more valuable, and seeing as how all if not most of us are sitting on hundreds if not thousands of dollars of credit, it is absolutely worth the extra 100 bucks over a slim.
