Cheap Ass substitute for second dock?

ease22

CAGiversary!
Anyone find a cheap solution for having a second tv hook up that didn't involve the $90 rip off official Nintendo Dock?

Yes, the nyko one is going to be one of the first proper 3rd-party docks available. And I believe there is growing support for some more "minimalist" docks in the work as well. By early next year, you should have two or three lower-cost options for this. Your best bet for now is to be patient and wait. Come November you will be able to get a cheaper, more affordable TV-enabled dock.

Not going to get a ton cheaper.  $50 for the Nyko but might be missing the USB ports if you care about that.  I doubt many do, but I hooked up my docks to ethernet for better connection and lan gaming.

Also gotta wonder whether sliding the joycons in and out of that Nyko dock will be annoying in practice if you do that regularly.

Personally if you're buying a dock and thinking about extra joycons or a grip then I would just another Switch.  But I guess that doesn't meet the cheap solution criteria.

I picked up the Nyko one and am ecstatic about receiving it. According to the official Nyko website, it contains two USB 2.0 ports and one 3.0. You can look to the official Nyko page for that info.

I know this is an old topic, but Best Buy has the Insignia-branded Switch dock if you're looking for a cheaper option for a second dock. It's $40 but has been on sale for $35 in the last couple weeks: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-dock-kit-with-hdmi-and-usb-for-nintendo-switch-black/6065700.p?skuId=6065700

The big downside appears to be the one USB 2.0 port, versus more on the Nyko or Nintendo docks. If you don't need the extra USB ports though, this might be something else to consider too.

Yea I was curious about the frying the Switch or how the hell that happens?
Since I like to plug my Switch into a USB charger every now and then when not docked.. though it's 90% of the time docked

Also, what if you use the Official Switch PSU with the Nyko or Insignia dock?

So have any new options come out now that we are into March?  I decided I needed a second dock the other day and don't have much to spend.

There are a few third party alternatives available now. I have yet to try any of these but they pop up in YouTube reviews, which is how I became aware of them:

I bought a refurbished OEM dock off Ebay a few  months ago and haven't had any problems. I can't remember for sure but I want to say I paid around 60 for it.
