YouTube is hard, especially with niche things

I'll probably never get more than a hundred subscribers with the very small indie games i cover, but whatever... I recently decided to do a niche gaming news video weekly and I am in need of feedback desperately...I need the truth.

Tell me what you think of the video... I'm trying to introduce how's with a game that they have never seen as well while they get their weekly fix... It's called the hinge

0:47 I think if you speak with a bit more energy like you did at the start of the timestamp it would help.

I recommend buying a Pop Filter, when you say words that start with a P it seems to disrupt/stop the audio for a split second.

'Jump Cuts' for commentary would really help you nail it down. Perfecting what you want to say, what tone you want to use etc. and taking your time should definitely help you out by a ton.

It's not all bad though, interesting topics in your video for sure. I say do videos on what you want, no matter how niche it is, and if you're presentation and delivery is great you'll have 100 subs eventually. It will take time but will be well worth it.

Good luck!

Amazing video! You just got a new subscriber! I'm lucky number 70 too.

Yeah I know making these videos, especially for the niche scene is really hard. Honestly, and I'm not making a joke here, but I've seen really two things that lead to fast and great success, and it's humor and boobs, preferably big and round ones. In all seriousness, most of the high activity YT channels seem to be very click-baity, which isn't a good thing. Very few have great quality and substance like yours do. But it does mean you can learn and thing or two about making your own videos stand out as well. I have a Youtube channel too where I just screw around and sing, and it's got a couple of views here and there.

So I'll talk about the positives first! You have a great narration voice, it's easy to hear and discern what you are saying. The quality/transitions are very well done, all the gameplay footage, and the product images are captured and displayed well. I love the IheartIndie logo and the little watermark. Everything for the weekly segment is organized well too.

So a few things you can work on. I think you speak too close to the mic, and the wind ends up making "pop" sounds. I noticed I do that too when I make my songs, and it's best to pronounce B and P words with less force when you smack your lips, and to be further from the mic yet speak louder or increase the audio of the soundtrack. That way the wind isn't picked up. It's pretty noticeable if you use headphones. You'll notice it as a giant sound spike if you view the track on a voice recorder program.

Secondly, when you narrate a clip, it's probably better if you take breaks and piece segments together. I notice you seem to stumble upon things sometimes, after using "and" or "uh" followed by a pause. It's best to make short voice clips so you can gather your thoughts before the next lines.

Third, it might help if you had titles before your next news story. I was able to keep track thanks to the title of the video telling me which segments there were, but I got kinda lost too since it felt like one continuous news story. Again, it'll help to have titles, and maybe transition lines like "and next up we have" or "moving on to".

Besides that though, amazing job! It's not easy making these videos, and some of the best parts are finding what you can improve on and working from there. So keep up the good work!

Here's another resource to post your videos on, which might net you a couple more views. I usually post my albums here too. It's the CAG user blogs.
