Rationalize it any way you want to make yourself feel better about hoarding/flipping, but this isn't just "capitalism" at work, it's greed, pure and simple. I never got an NES Classic Edition because I refuse to pay scalpers for the privilege of getting one at over 3 times the retail price. I can easily afford it even for $250, but it's not that critical to me, so it's an easy pass. In the end, Nintendo did a lot of damage to their reputation in how the NES Classic was handled; they will reap what they sow down the line.

You are a moron. Go stand in line for an hour or pay the scalper price. You can't have it both ways. One things for sure, whining will do nothing but make you look like a joke. Nintendo's reputation is perfectly fine. Switch is killing it. 3ds is killing it. The classic systems are killing it.

And you're a worthless greedy POS. Your point? Oh right, you have none. Switch may be selling well now to the usual diehard Nintendo fans, but without solid 3rd party support, it's going to meet the same fate as the Wii U. Hope you enjoy Nintendo's own IPs, because that's about all you're going to get aside from some Indies.

Hard to argue.

Who is the bigger d-bag?  The guy that orders multiple or the idiot that buys from them.

How about neither, and we don't take something as trivial as video gaming so seriously where we keep losing our minds over it.

Wow, calm down everyone. I just replayed all my snes collection with my original console. Let me tell you that althought the games are great, there are a lot of games that are cheap and accesible on the wiiu, ps3, ps4, and xbox. Let's take it easy everyone.

Re NES Classic I went to a 24 hour Walmart at approximately 10 PM. When it became apparent that I was 2 people 2 late I literally ran to my truck and drove to another smaller Walmart and was able to purchase a system. I got in my truck and got on CAG to share my success and noticed that BB pre orders went live at midnight so I ordered a 2nd system. A couple weeks ago I randomly saw a Classic in TRU. I shared my find w/ the community, people did not believe me, I posted receipt and eventually others found systems. Effort and luck will get you a system. Last night I saw the notice on my watch and put in 2 orders. WM allowed me to order 2 so I ordered 2.

My entire office got one (about 10 total) from Amazon prime now. I got one from eBay opened for about 75$, then found two at the TRU late ships. Those went to family- older brother and I kept the opened one for my daughter. It's a cool little device but be serious- if you want the games they're easy to be had- it's the piece of rarity you want. Nintendos reputation has jumped from also ran to almost resurrected in months. I can't recall a time when the outlook was brighter.

Nintendo knows it can make as many of these as they want and they will sell EVERY unit, probably at least for a year. That is insane for any company's new product. But I'm sure they'll stick to their let's keep it rare strategy. Without the demand from flippers, these should be as easy to buy as classic sega Genesis flashbacks

They should replace the empty console aisles with guns at Wal-Mart.

So I can just get this over with...

When can I send Santa my wishlist again? I'm hoping I don't go 0 for 2 on these systems. I'm picking up a used mini with a couple wireless controllers for $130 tomorrow. My wife and I are about to duke it out on some Dr. Mario. Nintendo is slowly, very slowly making a comeback. Look for a huge Christmas marketing push.

Me being a rational person, I can't help but weigh the time spent in this "effort" against the minuscule worth of the product. You factor in gas, time spent, and the annoyance of the whole thing, and I'd say that's worth a hell of a lot more than paying double to get one on ebay. We're talking less than $200 here to grab someone's pre-order. I wouldn't buy it. This product is realistically worth $40 or less. If it weren't rare I'd never want one, and if it doesn't fall into my lap as I browse the net in my spare time, I'll avoid getting one with little care.

People who ordered more than one console should have their orders cancelled, it's the hoarders/flippers who caused the disastrous situation with the NES Classic to begin with. I ordered one last night for shipping and my order is still processing. I was never able to get an NES Classic due to the hoarders.

... they allowed people to preorder two. Two isn't an unreasonable amount. Yeah it sucks what happened with the NES Classic and I never got one of those as well, but some of us might have thought of others when putting a preorder in. I ordered two. One for me, one for my younger brother, who I grew up playing many of those games with. Should I - and others with the same line of thinking - have our orders canceled?

I agree. If they don't want people to order two they wouldn't allow in the first place. Although these mini consoles are limited, Imo, having two is reasonable and shouldn't be assume as scalpers and hoarders. I ordered two as well. One for me and one for my buddy. Mine's not cancel. Keep fingers crossed.

Why would they cancel? They already charged my debit card.

No cancellation so far.

Well I do agree with these points. I misspoke. What I should have said is that people who try to bypass the 1-2 console limit at a given retailer (2 in this case) should have their orders cancelled. I was fortunate to get an order in for one this time, but not with the NES Classic.

so did anyone preorder from amazon De does your order show EUR 98,03? Why do they use a comma instead of periods? it's kinda freaking me out not cause when I try to do currency exchange cause when I try to see the exchange rate I see like $11,440.59 but with the comma it's 114.41

My Amazon De order has EUR 98.03 as well. It shows with a period not a comma. 98.03

I don't think Amazon would make that kind of mistake to charge someone $11,440.59 for a product that costs much less. I wouldn't worry about it.

My order from Amazon.de shows EUR 98,03 as well.  There's no way Amazon would mess this up so I don't think you have to worry.  Well my card doesn't have an 11k limit anyway so my payment wouldn't go through, so I'm not really worried.

This is just the way currencies are expressed in many parts of
Europe. 98,03 is how they are write 98.03 when referencing prices.

But still so irrational that you can't accept that the whole thing is subjective, and for some people it's worth it.

Personally, I got my NES classic via Target pre-order, but there's been times where I've driven around looking for something.  It sounds stupid and irrational, but in reality, I'm out doing other things too (you can do other things while driving fyi), and at the end, scoring the item I've been looking for can give me more joy and sense of accomplishment than just buying it on ebay.

There are multiple posts on different outlets and at least one (un)official? tweet from Walmart stating that the pre orders were not meant to go live.

Of course that doesn't mean that they'll cancel all of them.
