Has anyone heard an official statement or explanation from Amazon.com regarding recent changes to their Prime video game discounts? I just went to place an order (because payday), and noticed that two games that are both under two weeks old sold directly by Amazon.com no longer reflect the appropriate discount. A quick google suggests that this discount has also been removed from upcoming titles such as COD WWII and Assassin's Creed Origins. I don't recall seeing or hearing any kind of announcement that the deal was ending, and just let my GCU lapse (seems to be more of a pain buying this then if I had just renewed online before it lapsed a few days ago, ugh).
Can anyone confirm, is this possibly a recent glitch of some sort, or has Amazon made some sort of announcement that just flew under the radar?
It's a shame if they're stopping the two week discount, because that's a big way for consumers to protect themselves from titles like Assassin's Creed Unity, by seeing reviews prior to purchasing -theyre basically telling customers that they only get the discount on certain games, and only prior to being able to confirm that the game is even any good.
I'm hoping this is some sort of clerical error from Amazon, and not an intentional change... But that seems unlikely.
