Hurricane Irma is coming to South Florida on Sunday morning. It is one of the strongest storms ever recorded and has already battered a few Caribbean Islands. Right now, its projection says it will hit the Miami side and work its way up the coast. I think Miami is going to be another New Orleans+Katrina. People are going to be trapped, city will be flooded and significant parts will need to be rebuilt, etc. A similar situation could happen to the Georgia coastline.

I'm worried about CAGers in Florida. Are you evacuating or shuttering up? More importantly, how are you protecting your collection? ;)

Shuttered up baby. Hurricaneville, FL - West Palm. More concerned with fam and loved ones at this point. Riding this baby out, gotta be around should my peeps need help and what not, plus, I'd rather be by my property to deal with whatever the fall out, It will be what it is. Other South Floridian CAGs, stay safe baby!

Daytona, riding it out. Going nuts watching the track keep changing - now it's supposed to hit the west side where I went on "vacation" last month.

I live in Savannah, and my house flooded up to about 5 inches. II knew there was a chance of flooding at high tide since I live near a river, so I spent the entire day before preparing just in case. I placed all of my consoles standing in a cooler with towels between them. Then I strapped it shut with a ratchet strap and placed it in my truck. I put my smaller electronics like headphones etc inside dry bags and put those in my truck too. I parked my truck at my neighbor's house which is a little higher than mine. My TV and sound stuff went up high on top of my dresser and then I strapped the tv base to the dresser and put it facing the wall. I took my couch apart and placed it in a giant pyramid on top of my bed. When the tide came in it happened quickly and made its way up to my house in no time. It came up through the floor, and when it reached 5 inches throughout it stopped and slowly went down. The whole process took less than half a day. I put all of my stuff in a storage unit. We had to tear out the flooring and the bottom few feet of all of the drywall and insulation, run fans and dehumidifier for a while and will be spending the next few months working every night and weekend to get it put back together. Two interesting aspects of the whole scenario are 1. The whole time I have been thinking about how much worse so many other people got it. 2. As the water can into the house I had an odd sense of calmness because I knew my consoles and game saves were safe.
