You can say "Ginja"; it's racist if you say "Ginger" with the hard R.

I think it's interesting you keep tabs on your kid's YouTube viewing habits. Are they aware of this? ;)

Penny Dreadful is worth watching, regardless of ending. There are enough good episodes throughout the series to more than make up for the last couple of episodes.

Can we stop with the "bitches"? It's pretty derogatory to the women to listen to this podcast.

I'm beginning to grow concerned that the Cagcast crew is drifting out of touch with their original CAG-related demographic. In recent Cagcast episodes the crew has demonstrated a dismissive attitude toward most gaming topics, and have been much more enthusiastic about passive media, their non-gaming extacuricular activities, and family matters.

I don't blame you guys for having a broader, more balanced focus. All of you are older than you were. You're all starting to get into a part of your life where your priorities have shifted. There's nothing wrong with any of that. It's just a part of growing up, and I certainly would never encourage anyone to neglect their families in favor of playing video games. Taking care of, and spending time with your spouses and children should be among your highest of priorities, and rightly so.

That said, I think a little bit more research and enthusiasm for gaming topics would be warrented. Playing a game can take hours. Basic internet research on a game usually doesn't take nearly as long. And flippantly dismissing titles is also more than a little off-putting. A game might not be your cup of tea. But your audience may still be interested. You guys blew off the upcoming Square/Enix RPG for switch. Just a tiny amount of research would have highlighted that this game is being produced by the same internal team that developed Bravely Default, one of the most critically acclaimed RPGs to come out of Square/Enix in the past decade. For fans of JRPS, and older Final Fantasy titles in particular, this game is hotly anticipated.

You guys are all at a place in your lives where you don't have to pinch pennies to purchase games. But a lot of your fans who frequent the site and listen to the podcast still are. Kindly keep us in mind when planning content. We're fans, so we won't get up in arms if you want to pontificate on non-gaming matters a little. Such topics help to add personality to the proceedings. But we are also mainly game enthusiasts. A bit more enthusiasm for the subject of gaming would be appreciated. When a particular episode becomes a cavalcade of "mehs", I can't help but wonder what's going on. Especially when the loudest "mehs" all seem to be coming from the gaming sector.

Bungie said at E3 that Destiny 2 will be 30 fps on all consoles.

If you want 60 fps get it on PC.

(Yay me for making it into this episode, feel free to just call me "Red" if "re-divided by d" doesn't roll off the tongue)

I deeply lament not bringing up the possibility that Wombat's seemingly confused memories might be an example of the Mandela Effect in my last comment since he basically opened up exploring that possibility without using the term. For those unfamiliar with the "phenomenon" (I'm familiar with parallel world theory but had never heard this particular term until recently) here are some prominent examples https://www.buzzfeed...0D23#.dqOP0AgnK

I was deeply disturbed when I read that list since I also remembered a variety of things that way (George with a tail, "Luke, I am your father"). A more personal experience was remembering "The song that doesn't end" from my childhood as "the song that never ends," a debate over which is what resulted in me finding out about the Mandela Effect in the first place. I'm an adult with High Functioning Autism (a startling admission considering the prevalence of parentheses in my prose, I'm sure) who literally has made a career in the legal profession out of remembering things correctly thanks to my superior powers of recall (I like to think of myself as an even more annoying X-man than Morph in the 90s animated series), and I watched/read those things dozens if not hundreds of times as a kid so there's no way I'd be mistaken... only I am. Now for the first time in my life I find myself questioning every memory which is no way to live.

In that light I'm more comfortable assuming that my consciousness shifts back and forth from a parallel world on a regular basis, Zero Escape style, than I am exploring the possibility that after 30+ years on this earth some of my fondest memories have corrupted like data on a defective HDD, or are otherwise based on misconceptions.

I think you wrote a nice piece here. I do understand where you are coming from, but one of the reasons I like the CAGCast as much as I do is how real CheapyD, Shipwreck and Wombat come off. They are just three regular guys who play video games and watch TV shows and movies - like I do. They don't need to impress with the names of developers, or the track record of a studio, etc. Because at the end of the day, that stuff doesn't matter - it's all about what is in front of me and how I feel about it.

As far as their dismissive attitude towards Octopath Traveler, they are not the guys who play those kind-of games. JRPGs are generally not their type of games. I can personally relate because I don't play anything JRPG, and when I saw the trailer for it in the Nintendo Direct, I thought it looked nice but I knew it was a game that I would never play. The CAG panel would rather play a new shooter, or a new racer. That is their genre.

Finally, not every game will grab everyone - see my above post. If they felt bored by Splatoon 2, then they felt bored. If they are excited about Destiny 2 - which Wombat and Shipwreck are - then they talk a lot about it. They really can't devote time of their hour long podcast to games they aren't playing and aren't interested in. For example, I played the Witcher 3 and really disliked it. I wouldn't want to talk about the game for lengths on end just because other people love the game.

Hey, guys, some show feedback for ya.

When you were talking about the Kinect as almost getting it right, also remember that at the time of the announcement of XB1's Kinect, the NSA listening to everything we do was a big story at the time. So there was more than a little hesitation to that concept for people. Obviously way fewer people give a shit now but I think it's an important point to bring up. Now just say, "Hey, Alexa" and "Ok, Google". ....do it...it'll be fun.

You're doing the Kinect wrong.

I walk in the room and say "Cortana, Xbox on". Then my Xbox, receiver and tv will all turn on at once. Then i'll say "Cortana play Netflix( or Destiny 2 or Hulu)". I can ask Cortana to do all sorts of stuff: Raise/lower the volume; web search; play any app, game or movie that i have downloaded; even search the store for movies or games all by voice.

Cortana and the Kinect are pretty great, but yeah the camera is pretty worthless unless i want my xbox to say hi to me personally when i walk into the room.

Nintendo has said that there will be as many SNES Classics on launch day as there were NES Classics sold in all of last year.  That's worth mentioning, I think, as you casually dismiss how bad they are at stocking their Classics systems.  Improvements are coming.

Yes, I get this. I don't want to bust their chops too much over this sort of thing. Some games are not for some people, that's just how it works. I certainly don't expect them to play every game, especially not games that they would not find personally entertaining.

It's more the dismissive attitude that they took in the show that put me off. While personal taste is far more significant in dealing with which games you personally want to play, they are putting on an audio show, and they have an audience. And their audience is going to have a broader range of tastes, simply by being a diverse and eclectic group of people.

I brought up Octopath Traveler as a specific example, but it wasn't the only title they showed a distinct lack of interest or concern over. They were also very dismissive of the Metroid release. They spent more time discussing how they felt the 3DS was no longer relevant than they did discussing the game itself. And they knew nothing about the game either. They looked up details on the title in the middle of the show, and only then found out that it was a re-make of Metroid II: The Return of Samus for the original GameBoy. That kind of embarrassment could have been easily avoided with a quick review of the show outline ahead of time, and 30 seconds of internet research on what the heck this new Metroid thing is. The game was announced months ago, and all of the early reviews have been very positive. I would expect anyone who follows the industry to have at least that level of knowledge, even if they've never played the game.

I mean, is it really so much to expect someone on a podcast to briefly review the talking points before the show starts? These types of foibles seem to be cropping up more frequently on the Cagcast. This is what I mean when I say I'm not feeling as much enthusiasm.

We make a show about three guys chatting for an hour. That's the show. It is not a show about game news. Gaming is just the vehicle to keep the show together, keep it unique and give us topics. There are plenty of great shows that do research, we are not that show. Never were, never will be.

That's always been the fall back excuse for CAGcast and it's wearing thin. The negativity has grown and the smugness has increased.  It's one thing to say "I don't like game X" it's quite another to say "I don't like game X because people who do are stupid and Developers don't know how to make a good game". Tha latter is what the CAGcast has become. It's why I stopped listening months ago. (although I check into the forums to see if they've stopped, appears they haven't.)

Just wanted to say I totally get Wombat's fanaticism with Injustice 2 after picking up the game recently. Really enjoying the graphics, fighting styles and gear / loot box system; really adding another layer of depth / replayability to what could have just been another fighting game.

The same arguments Shipwreck made against upgrading to the Xbox One X he essentially repeated in favor of buying a new Iphone.   And the carrying in your pocket doesn't fly since he could buy a cheaper slightly newer version than the one he already has.  There is nothing wrong with being in the bag for Apple no matter what the logic as long as you are willing to admit it.

This is pretty rich coming from the guy who constantlys tries to use his status in games to get free games, t-shirts, respect, entry into "press" events, entry into conferences and panels.

Wow, that's actually a fantastic summary of the podcast.

Yea the first half of most shows are completely non gaming related which I think gives each show a evergreen appeal that most other gaming podcast don't have.

It's the one thing that makes this show unique. How else would we have gotten that infamous poop story with the coat hanger haha.

Cagcast is the best!

I like Apple products and it's time for me to get a new phone since my current one has issues. My Xbox One and PS4 currently don't have issues. This is really all the reasoning there is.

I don't just go buy the latest Apple products, but when I'm in the market I usually go on the upper tier. I'm currently using an iPhone 6 and a MacBook Pro that's got to be approaching 7-8 years old, but was on the high end when it released.

There's a new Taco Bell Xbox One X giveaway. With an ad:

Between the dumb name and the accent of the actor I dare anyone to claim that if you weren't deeply tuned into gaming you'd have any idea the actor is saying the product name "Xbox One X".

It took me seeing it twice to catch what he said.

This dumb name just keeps on giving.

show feedback: great show guys, you make my workshift less terrible. Thanks for the destiny 2 topic, I don't have a gold or PS+ account, so the solo-playthrough is all I care about whether to put hours into it. Shipwreck, I'm glad to hear ready player 1 is getting more tolerable for you. I read the book and loved it. I think of it as a young-adult novel for grown-ups. cheapy mentioned borrowing games from the library. I do this as well. it's something everyone should look into. you're paying for it, might as well try it.

I would like to leave my first show feedback!

My girlfriend and I have been listening to the show for a couple years now and we look forward to listening when we go on longer than normal car rides.  Most of all I want to thank you for a lot of recommendations that you have given over the years.  I would like to thank the show in general for the recommendation of Overcooked.  I would like to thank Cheapy for recommending The People vs. O.J. Simpson on Netflix and Wombat for recommending the You Must Remember this podcast.  I would also like to thank Shipwreck for his recommendation of the Galloping Ghost arcade.  We travel to Chicago a couple times a year and this is an amazing place.  I look forward to more great recommendations.  Keep up the good work!

First show feedback in seven years listening here:

The catch?  Maybe it's delayed a week or two.

Just finished Breath of the Wild after purchasing a Switch last month when GameStop had them in stock.

Absolutely fell in love with the progression in that game.  Add the fact that it got more and more clever the more I played, and it's my favorite game this year.

Has Wombat picked it up again?  Is anybody interested in the DLC?  As much as I loved the game, once the credits rolled it felt like a complete enough experience, and I have little desire to complete the 50something shrines left.

Also, I have mixed feelings about how good Destiny 2 is, considering I stopped playing the first a week after launch.

Keep up the great work!
