Buy 1 Get 4 Free on Skylanders and Disney Infinite at ToysRUS till Saturday, Sept 23rd

haha, shipping was $1 more than my entire order. So in essence shipping kills it.

2 more pieces to the collection (the other 3 were just filler).

Thanks.

Add something to make it over $20 and shipping is free.

If you're really thrifty, then return the item you added to the store. (Though this is rather devious)

I just want to find a cheap Wreck-It-Ralph, but it's so hard to find stand alone. Most of the sale ones are out of stock anyway, so good luck finding enough to take advantage of this deal...

Such a sound business model, I bet they'll be around forever.
They way over stocked on these figures like everyone else.

Now they're just trying to clear inventory, which in some stores dates back to the original release "Spyro's Adventures" characters from 2011.....

Writing that, just filled me with memories... dammit.

The fact they filed for bankruptcy really hits me in the childhood and memories....

C'mon glitches! :whee: jk
No doubt they lost a ton of $ the last time this promo was active a few wks ago which def isn't good for accounting purposes. Ppl were going crazy getting tablets, consoles, Legos, & etc as the free items...last major event before they filed bankruptcy =( I wasn't able to score anything tho lol

Got 15 figures for $17, some are repeats but for $1 and change per figure brand new, who cares.

Threw in a game that was on sale to put it at $34 for the free shipping. Thanks for posting!

this worked for me btw.

For your 1st selection, choose the cheapest figure. $3.99, then each figure after drops to $0.00 so long as you stay w/in the promo. Normally I know they charge you the highest price, but I was able to get Nemo down from $14.99 to $0.00 and paid $4.99 for the promo because...Han Solo, that's why.

This deal makes me wish that they had more of the Disney figures. I have all the Marvel and Star Wars characters and light up variants already.

Okay, maybe not.

Just got my email confirmation and they did something funky. While it's not $14.99 + sh/hd & tax, it's certainly not $4.99...ymmv.

Out of curiosity, was this the "we received your order" email or the shipping/pick up confirmation email where the price changed?
It's not the "we received your order" email, but it doesn't seem to be an actual shipping confirmation either. The subject line is: "Toys R Us / Babies R Us Order Confirmation # XXXXXXXXXX". Inside it says that it confirms that the order is processing.

I was overcharged $50 on a $30 order last time they did this promo. Had to dispute the charges with chase to get the money back. Never again TRU, the way you mange your company, you can go bankrupt. I'm done buying thru their website!

Seriously though, TRU's website sucks and their mobile site is worse. I'm frequently stuck while so unnecessarily long JavaScript runs. You'd think theyre mining for bitcoins on your local browser..

Interesting. I didn't get that email, I only got the "we received your order" one but I did about half of it for store pick-up so maybe that's the difference? The total in that email was correct though and so far the paypal total is also reflecting the website total.

After hearing the horror stories last time I intentionally used paypal and saved my receipt from the site as a PDF as proof for what they charged (plus the email they sent confirming the order) so hopefully won't have any issue getting PayPal to only charge original price if that happens.

At what point is this not a deal yet a normal occurrence?

This happens every other week. Now it isn't even news, it's common sense.

Great timing in this.... my 3 year old has been raiding big brother’s skylander collection. Time to buy some peace and quiet for the house!

Right, that's just one of the sales they have been circulating for months, another week be buy a starter pack and get some figures free and a week later half price on starter pack... and repeat... until they help Activision clear out all overstock I think.

Thanks Op. Skylanders would be the only thing for me here. I already have the entire Infinity figure set (excluding promo d23 mickey figure/disc and alternate vader). Also completed my Infinity disc collection last year. I have quite a few skylanders but never really got into them. Nice deal.

Edit: Is this in store as well? I wouldn't mind picking up additional figures for the kids. They can't play with mine  :D/ lol.

Yes, the same deal usually in store too.

The store might also have figures that's not available online, I saw a couple of Knight Light and Mare in one store before they became briefly in stock online and sold out soon.

But they're not going out of business or shutting down any stores. They're just doing a financial restructuring.
But they probably will also revise their stocking and sale strategy.

It's the only retailer still have tons of Skylanders and even Infinity in stock, I'm not sure it's because they overstocked before or Activision and Disney use them as dump trucks.

And I wonder how many people actually buy video game disc there, their price is higher than other stores and the store I went to, the video games section usually has no people. Sale or even clearance prices are always not competitive.

Not just games, they priced toys to life figures higher too. I frequently had to have them price match Skylanders with Best Buy or Amazon to save $1-2.

EVERYTHING is priced higher.

I have a weakness for Transformers figures, mostly the Generations line.

The deluxe retail at $15 in every other store, ToysRUs sells them for $20

All figures of larger sizes are $5-10 more than their competitors.

Because they're a "Specialty Store" they never really priced competitively, so most department and super markets out sell them

(Walmart, Target, Meijer)

I used to go to ToysRUs with my ex, and just walk around.. had some good memories but they never stayed relevant save for certain rare items.

Just can't be bothered with DI anymore.  Have some figures and toy boxes - never played a single one (too ... many ... games).

Got my figures for around the same price as this ($1-2/each).  Glad to see TRU is finally letting these go.  Hope ppl here get what they want.

I ordered 10 DI figures and it didn't charge me for the two highest prices ones. I had 3 that were $14.99 in my cart and I was charged $9.99 for the Inside Out playset and $4.99 for some chick. I tried messing with it some more but when I added 5 more it changed which ones were free. So I removed those and did the original 10. So basically - screw around with the cart I guess and see if you can get the cheaper ones to be the ones you're actually buying.

Keep in mind there have been some CAGs in the past that have reported that TRU has gone back to charge the "correct" amounts with this deal, i.e. charging you for the highest one regardless whether the system glitched.

That happened to me. There was a promo buy a starter pack and get 4 figures for free a couple of moths ago. The deal overlapped with a sale price on the starter pack and I ordered a starter pack for $9.99 instead of $19.99 and the order total was $11.xx (should have been $10.59 but I wasn't concerned about the extra $1.xx). The order status and confirmation and pending charge were all correct. After I picked up the order from the store, the $11.xx pending charge went away and then I had a posted charge of $52.xx, the $9.99 starter pack and then $9.99 for each figure.

I disputed the charge with the credit card company and they temporarily took away the extra charge, I'm still waiting on the final confirmation that the dispute is resolved.

Managed to mess around with the cart (FOR OVER AN HOUR) and got 5 play set 3-packs for $18.17 shipped including tax.

The deal with the cart glitch seems to be that it only works if all your items are the same base (non-discounted) price and there isn't more than 1x quantity of anything.  When you add the first, it makes the cart total that discounted price (3.99, for instance).  Then you add 4 more and it stays the same.  When you add the 6th item, it adds the discounted price of it to the total and then you can add any 4 more without it changing.  Keep doing that, just make sure your items are all the same base price.

The real killer here is sales tax.  It's calculated on the base price, I believe, not on the cart total.  I also placed another order (29 Infinity figs) and my cart was only $25 subtotal but the tax and shipping took it up to $45.

Wow. That's really illegal. One of the big no-no's is that you can't charge someone's card without their authorization.
If it happens to me I'll be raising hell, no doubt! I'll probably know tomorrow. It's still a pending amount through paypal.

Watch your credit cards on this one. I bought 20 last time they had this, and was charged $48 which wasn't right because while the sub total was 40, I was charged $8 in sales tax even though my state is only 7%. So they ended up shipping the items over 6 shipments and I noticed in th emails that they were charging me 5.67 each and I just ignored it thinking that it was what the price would normally be but I decided to check my statement when I received it all to see what the find charge was. Along the way about 3 of the traps I bought opened because they used bubble mailers and the first item didn't ship for over 2 weeks but after 3 and a half Weeks i had them all. Sure enough I was charged $90! I called twice to complain, the First Lady sent me a replacement for one of the traps that was still in stock and sure enough that was damaged the same way lol. She refunded me the 5.67 for the other 2. That was as far as I could get with her, called back and the second lady took awhile but I saved the email with the $48 price and she could see through the website that my order was charged twice as much originally. She gfought me saying only one order would have free items but I eventually won and she refunded me about $60 for all the ones that should have been free at the $5.67 price. So long story short, I got $90 worth of stuff for about $20 or less than half the original quote plus the bonus one the first rep resent, but of course had I not noticed I would have paid twice as much.

TL DR. ToysRUs is going bankrupt because of stupid stuff like not having a website that can handle promotions and I got a lot of stuff at less than a buck each.

Yet another company that refuses to adapt to modern technology and times...

Thought I admit.. I miss their Sales Cage from the 80s and 90s.

Just adding my experience with this.

Ordered one lot of 48 $9.99 skylanders, total charge $133, and a second lot of 5 $35.99 packs, total $43.

The pending charges initially showed on my statement correctly, but then mysteriously shot up to $153 for the first and $193(!) for the second.

I used the online chat support to see about getting the charges fixed. Supposedly they have verified my numbers and will credit me in 5-7 business days.  Fingers crossed.
