VGBT #1 Video Game Buyers Thread (Post your buyer's remorse) (Post your happy unboxing pics too!)

BlackRockWaifu

CAGiversary!
This is the VGBT (Video Game Buyer's Thread) where we post about video game or related things we just bought and then cry that we spent money on it.

You can post the details, receipt, pictures, pictures of your shipment, impressions, etc. Or you can just rant about how expensive it was. Or if you got a good deal, you can show off too.

Let's keep it to video game related items for now, so games, CEs, figures, artbooks, props, posters, comics, etc. No sandwiches or salads you got for lunch.

I decided to buy the Final Fantasy 14 ARR CE for $30 used... not even for the game but just for the art book... probably not the best idea...

I bought battleborn's season pass edition digitally for $40 and convinced 3 others friends to do the same. We only put like 10 hours into it before we went back to rainbow six...

Instead of games I've been buying shoes lately.

I mean. It's related to games in a way.
In what sense? I suppose there are many games in which the characters do wear shoes... What stats do your new shoes increase?

Buyers remorse.... to keep with the above posters theme I recently spent several hundred dollars on fancy hoodies and sweatpants. I usually don't wear sweatpants outside the house so I have no idea what I am going to do with so many pair.

As for games it's actually been a lucky year buyers remorse wise. I did buy a lot of games where I thought I was getting a killer deal only to realize all the PS3 games are annoying French/English version so they have a different rating stamp and crazy thick manuals with english and french. The copy of Yakuza 3 especially bugs me. Observe!

Well, I spent $60 on Rodea the Sky Soldier when it originally came out. I then proceeded to play 2 hours of the Wii U version of the game, turned it off, and haven't touched it since. I knew full well that the Wii version of the game was far better, but I just couldn't bring myself to play it. My motivation levels are at an all time low.

Mm.. so yeah! $60 well spent! N-No, I'm not crying! You're crying! ..Sh-Shut up!

My fashion sense stat increased?

I honestly coulda bought a Switch with that shoe money. Alas, the Switch will have to wait.

I bought Mass Effect 3 CE. Waste of $80. Then the darn game got lowered to $10 in June/July. Just like Mass Effect Andromeda.

One of my regrets is being a dumbass and buying a PS1 for $20 at a Garage Sale instead of a PS2. Damn my under developed mind. One of my biggest embarrassments in gaming

I really can't think of any recent buyers remorse unless having games sit on a backlog not played and eventually seeing it get a price drop counts. The last buyers remorse I can think of was buying the Wii U day one at launch and having it just sit on my gaming set for an entire year collecting dust as it had no games to play until Super Mario 3D World.

I do experience BlackRockWaifu Remorse tho, which is where BRW buys a game because of me only to eventually never get around to playing it much or at all which then makes me feel bad for BRW.

List of BRW Remorse

Star Wars Battlefront + Season Pass - The game gets an Ultimate Edition announced a month later (we played it a lot tho).

Uncharted 4 - We only played Co-op which I found boring and we never finished it (this would be a different story if we played Team Death Match).

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare - BRW bought it thinking I owned it.

Battlefield 1 - BRW bought it thinking I was getting it.

Tekken 7 - BRW bought it because I got it but I never planned to play it soon.

Injustice 2 - BRW bought it thinking I was getting it.

I'm sorry BlackRockWaifu

And here I thought I was doing something bad, I imagine once every few rounds of Rainbow Six they kill you off the team as a reminder of what you did.

I actually would like to play Rainbow Six Siege after seeing all the videos RussianBadger makes of it but I feel it's only manageable with an entire group of friends... I'm going to stop here before BRW buys this game next.

Don't forget Attack on Titan, God Eater 2, and Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash.

Lol, I'm only kidding. To be fair, I buy most of those games because I want to play them. Like Battlefield 1, Tekken 7, Injustice 2 I would've bought regardless.

The only games I bought a little earlier than I would've was Uncharted 4 (I bought the CE then, so that was okay), Infinite Warfare (You did tell me not to buy it), and Attack on Titan (Which I sold back for more than I paid).

So all in all, they weren't bad purchases, and they were all good games.

I did buy Rainbow Six Siege a while ago from an Amazon sale, but traded in the game shortly afterwards. It felt a little too difficult, I kept getting destroyed by the CPU and having to start all over again. There wasn't really a story mode, and multiplayer seemed too intense, and I would probably have randoms screaming at me if I tried to play it.) I ended up selling it for more than I paid, which was nice.

Siege is a game you need to learn with patient friends. Playing terrorist hunt against ai is completely different and far more terrible than the core siege multiplayer experience. I will say that they have recently updated the casual matchmaking system so that truly new players have a better chance of matching against other new/ really bad players to start. That being said, if any of you want to try siege on a free weekend or buy it again when it's on sale for dirt cheap, hit me up, and I will make time to be your patient friend :p

I knew there was more but I couldn't remember which they were. I thought you owned God Eater 2 before I ever considered getting it since I recall you and Zeki talking about teaming up to play online together. I also just remembered you planning to get DBZ Xenoverse 2 because I had it on my Black Friday list tho I'm not sure if you actually got it or not.

Dont forget that Battlefront's Season Pass was made free for like a month. LOL
I'm buying BRW Battlefront 2 so it's all good. They did the same to Battlefield 4 over a year ago also so I expected the season pass to be made free on the original Battlefront at some point.

Lol I would love to, but I have no idea which version to get. I think there's a base vanilla version now, season 1 version, and season 2 version? And season 2 version doesn't come with everything? And the season 2 version is also like full price or $40 for like a 3 year old game? I'm kinda lost, and feel like it's too expensive for such an old game with no real singleplayer. And it doesn't help the game never really had a good price drop.

I think we all bought God Eater 2 around the same time due to the Weekly Best Buy sale. I feel bad I never got to play with Whoknows then too, I guess it was karma for me. I did get DBZ Xenoverse 2, but had no idea it was on your wishlist. I got it just because the CE was on sale for an Amazon Lightning deal, and ended up selling the game and keeping everything else.

Lol you really don't have to buy Battlefront 2 for me. And I also hope the Battlefield 1 season pass becomes free soon, but I might just rebuy the Battlefield Revolution game now since it's just one big package. And I know Olengie was super into that game for a while.

Season passes in siege are just anti grinding tools basically. Ubisoft releases 8 new operators (characters) in 4 groups of two every year. That year's season pass grants access to those 8 operators, but the year 2 season pass alone does not grant immediate access to all 16 dlc operators for year 1 and 2. You can grind for the operators in game however, but it takes about 22-25 hours of playtime to earn enough in game currency for one dlc operator. Base game operators that were there since launch can be earned with 20 minutes-1.5 hours of playtime by comparison.

What all these numbers really mean is that season passes for the game are unnecessary if you play it frequently like I do (Affording dlc operators isn't a problem when you have over 350 hours logged in the game), but you should be prepared to grind if you want unlock all the characters. Any maps that are added are free, but most cosmetics cost money and aren't included in the season pass.

Wait, so even if I buy season 2 pass, I still don't get all 16 DLC operators immediately, but have to grind for them? But the grinding is less, compared to like 25 hours for 1 character?

Do the operators make much difference in gameplay? I remember only playing as a few when I played, but they seemed to have similar gear or something.

If you buy season pass 2 you get immediate access to the 5 operators that have released this year so far as well as the 3 that haven't yet come out this year when they release. You get them a week early, and you don't have to pay in game currency. If you buy the current complete edition, you get access to all 13 dlc operators that have already been released and you will get the next 3 to be released a week early. You don't have to grind for dlc operators if you buy their associated season pass. Some operators have similar abilities while others are completely different. Some lay traps, some destroy reinforced walls, some specifically counter others. It's hard to give you an idea of who is really important though until you actually put some time into the game.

Very many people here have buyer's remorse about No Man's Sky? I just grabbed a used copy for cheap today. I knew this game was overhyped when it came out last year, but I keep hearing its gotten a lot better, so I guess I'll see, but I don't have high expectations.

I also picked up a couple Gamecube games today: P.N.03 and Eternal Darkness. These are the first Cube games I've bought in years, but they're ones I've been wanting for awhile as I try to fill out my GC collection. Not sure I'll play them any time soon, tho, so I guess to the backlog they go.

Nice! How much did you get NMS for? I think it reads $13.99 on the label? That's a pretty good price for it now.

I did buy a copy of the CE used for around $30 months after it came out. So because of that, I never played it, and never had buyer's remorse about it. I think Thatguy might've bought it too, or he said he was trying to resist it. Had I played it, I probably would've wanted my money back, but it's still in the backlog for now.

I heard it got major improvements, and that the base game was never as terrible as people exaggerated it to be. They had a couple of major patches too, and you can even see other players in your own game now. So I think it's a completely different product than the launch version.

Yeah, I thought $13.99 for NMS was a pretty good deal, so I doubt I'll have any remorse since I didn't spend too much for it. I really love my local shop here; they usually have the best deals on used games, but the flip side is that they don't offer very much for trade-in.

Posted about this in the niche thread, but finally got my Cyberdimension Neptunia CE. I've been cutting down on new CE releases, didn't even get the Destiny 2 one I really wanted. But this one was definitely worth it.

So this year it was Nier, Horizon, Persona 5, Senran Kagura, and Neptunia all full price. And that will probably be it for 2017.

Finally received this from AWD. Took me 2 tries to get it though as I had to return the 1st one with just the game.

Slight buyer's remorse since I'm not even going to touch the game, just wanted it for the art book.
