Gamestop: Issue with CAG16 code stacking with PUR discount [Resolved]

I know this has been mentioned in a couple of threads but I figured it deserved more attention.

For years CAG16 has stacked with our PUR discount.  I figured that CAG would get some sort of affiliate kickback so it was a win-win.

Unless I'm mistaken, about two weeks ago it stopped working and it hasn't been addressed.  Do any of the Mods or Cheapy know if it's going to come back?  Since it benefited CAG I have to imagine that it has been noticed.  I guess I'm just wondering if we should move on or if we can expect it to come back at some point.

Everyone griped about it but no one said anything out loud, so far. Thanks irish for pointing out the elephant in the room...

Guess everyone is OK with having used games from GS.com cost 16% more.  Guess everyone became super-rich when I wasn't looking.

As I'm not independently wealthy, 16% off used games is something that hits me in the wallet and I hope it gets fixed sooner than later.

I have noticed and it has stopped me at shopping at GS lately. I buy so much shit from the website with retro and used that CAG16 was that thing that I name dropped to everyone I know would show for used on the Website. It made me proud to be a CAG.

It was also one of the original things that brought me to CAG itself.

A lot of us wont step foot in there. Not your fault but that is the way it is.

I think GS probably decided the Elite 20% off with the cag16 was just too much to give off used games.

Not justifying it, but doubt it will come back

And plenty of people will, so why does it matter to you either way?

CAG16 had been around for quite some time and I'm sure it made the site a significant amount of revenue. I'd assume that revenue stream isn't easily replaceable.

I tried to use the CAG16 code on its own and it didn't work. I was trying to buy some pre-owned items. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it's not working?

I'm pretty sure the Elite 20% + 16% isn't what GS wants.

And many of us don't have PUR, including me, so as long as CAG16 is working, I'm fine.

But if you guys can get that whopping 36% off, that's good for you.

Or might be you negotiate for just 10% + 16% when stacked as before, GS might be more willing to.

Yup. Technically, for online shoppers, Elite has made used games MORE expensive.
Damn. This is true. They’re going to raise the prices to justify the bigger discount and in turn pawn shops and local game stores who are too lazy to research pricing outside of pricing shit based on GS’s prices will go up as well. This is going to have some unintended consequences.

While what you say could certainly happen, I think he's referring to the literal increase in cost : CAG16 + pro = 26% off; Elite = 20% off. Pay more for elite...receive a smaller discount.

I ordered Resident Evil “new” for the Wii U a few weeks ago. Not only did it arrive opened but the manual was all crinkled up. The disc even had a scratch on it! They didn’t even try to hide that it was used. I know them selling opened games as “new” is typical but this was clearly a preowned and fairly well used game. Everyone should just boycott them due to their shady business practices.

Really would be nice to know if this is just a glitch or this is intended.  If it's intended, can they be convinced to change it back?  Elite and CAG16 stacking would be 33% off which is not crazy considering other sales gamestop has.  Plus we'd be buying a lot more.  How do we get Cheapy's attention.  @Cheapy....no that didn't work.  Maybe wrastling gif

At least they’ll be out of business in a few years
They’ve been saying that for years, and yet they are still here. GS, like most businesses, can be beneficial to shop from as long as you know how to do so. If you don’t like buying an opened game as new, then don’t purchase those from them. There are plenty of sealed games, systems, used products, and trinkets that almost anyone can find something of value.

Sounds like you just got a stores gut copy. Stores that only have used copies wouldnt be asked to send it as a new copy.
