Free game deals like this are usually paid for by the console maker. The Xbox One S has been in production long enough that the free game is a wash and providing one with the X might actually cost them money.

Blows my mind that the one thing this console launch desperately needs is a free game promotion.

Then of course, the one console excluded is the X.

The new system costs more to make and preorder numbers are good enough that a free game isn't needed for it to sell. Simple as that.

YMMV. I went to a Halo 4 launch at BB with my friend. He bought the game, I didn't since I had it coming from Amazon. I still got the free shirt and whatever else they gave out. Just acted like I was buying it.

And as others have said, there's no good incentives to buy the X1X because they don't need to do it. People are going to buy the console no matter what so why should they give away anything? They'll save the freebies for when sales slow down.

I've been to quite a few midnight releases and they don't stay open long. They'll probably close after the last person that was in line leaves and not stay open for an extended period of time.
