Is cashstar legit? I'm really tempted to do this, but I've never heard of them before.

Can I buy gift cards with a gift card?

Edit: No. This offer isn't directly from BB, cashstar takes credit or PayPal

They had this deal back in July or August. Worked like a charm. Make sure you put your BB rewards member ID in the field on the cashstar page. I didn't for one of my purchases and had to call them for a manual add of the certificate.

They are legit. I've used this deal every time it pops up and it's always via Cashstar.

That's just the third party BBY uses to handle it.

Good deal. I have been thinking of getting either a switch or an X1X. I'd hate to go through all this and BB not have stock during the usage window though.

Does anyone know how the saving codes work? If I were to use a different Paypal/CC to buy more than 3 (looking at buying maybe 5), can I use all of the codes in the purchase of a single item?

From my understanding from doing this deal in the past, the codes are similar to GCs in that they have a GC number and PIN. They just expire on a set date (although...). Thus, they should be treated towards the GC limit on a single order like all other GCs, which I think is capped at 10.

I made two different orders. I spend a lot of time at the Buy this time of year. Couldn't pass this up

Even though it's through CashStar, does anyone know if still count as a purchase towards Elite Status (I'm guessing yes since you get Reward points)?

I just don't think I can pull the trigger on this without knowing the stock level of consoles. If none are in stock before 12/14, I would be so pissed, especially since there will be hardly any games left to buy after getting plenty on BF.

use the gift card to buy stuff on black friday then use the extra gcs to buy your console discounted? ..

Hmm. You just cleared everything up! For some reason I was thinking the entire 150 plus 15 had to be used in that 2 week window. I may do this then. Thanks

The only turn off is that the $15 savings code must be used between 12-1 to 12-14.  By then Black Friday deals are probably all sold out.

True, but usually best buy does a B2G1 around that time as well.

I bought 2 of the gift cards and ordered myself a Switch, which is still in stock at BB's site. Then I should get 30 dollars in savings to order Xenoblade 2 for 18 bucks when it comes out.

Has anyone had issues with their credit card not going through? The GC-buying interface is a bit dated—it isn't accepting my Best Buy card, even though it's active and there's no balance.

Wanted to see if anyone else had encountered this before I call their customer service.

This may be a stupid question, but you can use these e-gift cards in a brick and mortar BB store, correct? The offer says the $15 "Savings code" may be redeemed in-store, but it doesn't actually say anything about the e-gift cards themselves. Was planning on buying a couple of these, as long as I can use them on BF in store.

Yes. I have had this problem with a different card. I called CS for my card and told then I'd be buying $150 three times from Cashstar and it worked fine. Keep in mind you won't get bonus BB rewards for using your BB card because you're technically buying from Cashstar.

I would be all over this, but I have the Amex spend $250 get $25 offer deal active.  I don't think I will be spending more than that on Best Buy this year.  Thanks OP.

You could always buy 2 $150 cards with your amex.. this would get you the bonus $25 plus 2x $15 so $330 for $275.

After spending about half an hour being passed from department to department—Credit, customer service, gift cards—I can conclude that no one at Best Buy knows much about the promos on their own site and… that you can’t use a BB card to take advantage of this offer. Guess I’m not doing it.

Others have reported a similar issue with using BB cards on SlickDeals.

Ugh, just spent $70 at Best Buy yesterday but didn't see this.  Still may take advantage, but would've been easier for me to drop $150 if I  was using the $70 immediately.

So do you need to make it 3 separate transactions or could you just add 3 $150 gift cards to one transaction, and get 3 separate $15 codes?

Correct me if I'm wrong:

isn't a savings code a gift card, or at least in that format? Therefore, can't I just buy something during that period, return it, and get a normal gift card upon return?

From their terms on the right side of the page, so my guess is no:

 • The value of the savings code will not be refunded if merchandise is returned or an order is cancelled.

During the order, you can add 3 $150 gc's. The 3 free savings codes are automatically added to your order.

Has anyone had a problem getting their free savings the last time(s) they offered this? The order receipt showed both the $150s and the $15s but the confirmation e-mail and my order history only have the $150s on them. Is this normal?

You can just print it out and use it in store

Hmm. I’ve been eyeing the TCL P605. I guess this is a pretty good way to get a discount on it. Is it confirmed it works towards elite/elite plus? Both the $150 and $15 codes? Was planning on buying it sooner, but I could invest in these gc and just wait until Dec 1st.
