FAQ
Are there any exclusions on what I can buy with the gift cards?
With the exception of Visa Pre-Paid cards and payments to your REDcard, no. You are free to spend the gift cards on Xbox/Playstation/Nintendo digital store credit, Nintendo Switch, Playstation Pro, Xbox One X, etc.

When can I use the gift cards?
Target usually let's you use gift cards immediately, with this promotion being the one exception. Gift cards will be valid the following day at 10am Central on December 4th.

Is there a limit to how many gift cards I can purchase?

Terms state $300 per household for a maximum discount of $30.

Do I still save 5% with my REDcard?

You do not. REDcard discount excludes gift cards.

Does the 20% off coupon I got from Black Friday work to save more on the gift cards?
No, not for the sale of the gift cards. You do however save 20% at the point of sale for whatever you're buying with the gift cards. 20% Coupon Exclusions

What is this 20% off coupon? How do I obtain one?
Theses coupons were given out to guests who spent $50+ on Black Friday (not Thanksgiving Day, but actually Friday). The only way to obtain one is by asking someone else if they have a spare or for the Target.com promo code if they aren't using it (can be used once in-store and online)

Target 20% coupon is valid through the 10th. Get some gift cards 10% off then spend them with the 20% coupon?? Hmm this has some possibilities.....

"You do however save 5% at the point of sale for whatever you're buying with the gift cards."

REDCard only discounts the amount charged to REDCard.

You can do more than $300. From past years, I did one transaction in the electronics section and another at the regular check out at the front of the store. I also used Target gift cards that I got from work to buy more Target gift cards for this 10% promotion (buy Target gift cards with Target gift cards).

I did this last year as well. I save all the $5 and $10 gift cards accrued throughout year and spend them for more gift cards during this promo. Came up over $20 in free money.

After reading this, I think it might be a good idea for me to save my Black Friday 20% off coupon until Sunday, 12/3 to get even more of a discount with 10% off of a gift card since the coupon is good until 12/10. Thanks, OP!

Edit: I was so excited that I failed to read Faithful's post that made my post totally redundant!

such wishful thinking and foolish of me, but i so wish theyd start matching these discounts on the digital versions. *shakes fist*

Is that the 20% coupon they gave out during Black Friday to come back and shop? It has a whole list of exclusions - I remember game consoles were excluded but don’t remember if games were

I have the coupon. Game consoles are excluded. PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox One X, and Nintendo hardware and Switch hardware are named on it. It doesn't say that games are excluded.

I'm looking at cheap TVs. The only TV specifically excluded is LG OLED TVs. But 30% off a TV that doesn't have burn-in spots in the screen like the one I come home to every night sounds like a good value proposition. And any clearance games I can get will be the cherry on top.

Can you use gift cards to buy gift cards?

If my nephew didn't want star wars battlefront 2 for xmas i'd be waiting till it was $5 bucks to pick it up.  At this point I hope it one foot in the grave for EA

Are you guys positive you can buy gift cards with gift cards ? I looked on google and says you can't buy target gift cards with gift cards or on target .com

Battlefront 2 already discounted? This will be a $5 Games with Gold game in no time on X1 by the end of the year
It may even go lower.

Supposedly there was a price drop/sale planned for the release of Episode 8...

So I am guessing a similar price to as low as $29.99

Are you guys positive gift cards can be purchase with gift cards
The stuff that worked last year isn't working this year
I say try it. No way to know until Sunday but it will be the luck of the draw as to whether or not you get a junior detective cashier who will try to stop you. But nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Last time they had this my local Target only accepted cash for gift cards. Not sure what the deal was (cc fraud locally? strictly enforced policy?)  or if you can buy cards at the self checkout.

Anyone like CoD WWII? I don't really trust reviewers and haven't played CoD since Black Ops.

I have the 20% off coupon too, so if that works that would make it $32.

Who the hell still carries around cash?

I've received the discount online while paying with a gift card. Maybe it was a system glitch because I originally had payment set as my Red Card but remembered at the last second that I had a gift card. That was 2 years ago.

Few bullets to consider before buying BF2:

- MXT are not a thing but the grind is real compared to the first game. Don't expect to be rank 50 and have everything unlocked within a month, because it's not realistic. The biggest bottleneck is crafting parts, so I fully recommend only buying hero loot crates with credits earned (they are the cheapest source of crafting parts and give the same amount as a trooper crate for half the cost) and using crafting parts only for either unlocks you want for a trooper or upgrades once you're able to.

- Unlocking heroes is a thing that was meant to promote MXT but for me personally, I've felt zero need to unlock a single one. Vader does stand out as the one hero most people unlock to counter Yoda but I find a mix of Kylo, Fett, and Bossk are more than enough. All the light side heroes suck for the most part aside from Rey (for her enemy reveal), Yoda (group heal/buff), and Lando (smoke screen). Luke, Leah, Han and Chewwy bring nothing to the table for the team like those three.

- The game is plagued with bugs ever since the only post-launch patch that treats players to laggy servers and constant server crashes (we're talking in the range of 50% of my games end with server crashes, aka lost time and progress). There is also a "swamp" bug where hero abilities such as pushes or pulls while you're dodging will leave you walking as if stuck in a swamp until you die. I've had this happen maybe 4-5 times so far. Also, this was fun. . .

- The game is fun when it works but they went for quantity over quality with maps this time and a majority of maps feel like COD corridor shooting over the epic battlefields the game is known for. They're not well balanced and I've seen teams fail to get past the first bottleneck of a map because the other team just becomes so entrenched with elites and troopers. Short games like this are also the least rewarding because heroes are barely given time to be played, if you even achieve enough score to use one.

- No server browser. This feature is sorely missed because some maps are just AIDS and it's a tedious process to quit a game after long load times (even on a Pro) if you get the shit end of the stick. Furthermore if you're stuck on a bad team and know it, it's best to just bail because the game makes zero effort to balance after a match and any good players you had on a team, more than likely quit already. I've also had instances of being on a great team, only to find myself SWAPPED SERVERS for absolutely no reason after a good match-up. They give zero control to the player, which is always shitty design IMO.

- Skill is still a factor over star cards, but for sure you'll want to at least have the base star card for key abilities. You can unlock most of the ones you want early on and won't take too long to get up to par with veterans. Upgrades are just a sign of prestige rather than completely overpowered, but some still need tuning regardless.

Overall, I've had fun but the game has so many glaring flaws that simple play-testing could have avoided it's clear it was rushed out for the movie. The MXT thing is overblown but the traditional grind has grown incredibly to the point that a player is forced to focus their efforts on a single trooper playstyle for progression. Just be prepared for a little bit of a learning curve as you dive in.

Are you sure it can be used in-store if it's already been used online? The coupon says "Valid one-time use only" on mine.

In the past it has allowed the code to be used once online and once in store. Having said that, I have always used it in store first just in case.

It is definitely my favorite since black ops. War mode is kind of an arcade string of missions in multiplayer and freshens it up. Gridiron is new too it’s untraditional but fun. I’d say give it a redbox rent to see if you like the multiplayer. I’m sure BB will also have it cheaper before Xmas after GCU. Just one CAGs opinion 😀

Alright, thanks! I have two of those Target 20% coupons. I think the lowest it might be at Best buy is $34.99 before GCU. If it's good, I don't mind spending a few extra dollars.

Just listed BF2 on eBay last night to get some of my money back. It's currently sitting at over $40 so hopefully this sale doesn't stop bidders.

I played the campaign and about 15 hours of multiplayer. What's sad is that the microtransactions (while disabled atm) aren't even a big deal to this game. There's certainly pay-to-win elements, but the gear you receive from crates is so poor that it would cost hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars to get more than one worthwhile loadout in this game. Like, there's dozens and dozens of star cards, all with four levels of progression, and after 15 hours I only unlocked about four or five at their first level. It's really annoying when I'm playing Heroes vs Villains without a single star card, and Kylo Ren comes up and destroys me in 2-3 hits because some guy somehow managed to get 3 star cards at top level. It's sad because I enjoyed the first Battlefront by the time all the DLC has been released, and this game makes significant improvements on the first one, but the progression system is so convoluted and grindy that I don't have the time or patience for it.

The individual stores don't get to make up their own rules for sales so seems unlikely.

I bought it but haven’t opened it yet. I played the EA Access portion of SP and the Beta but am leaning toward returning it and getting my reward points credited back and a little GC money too. I paid $0 oop but used a $10 GC, $30 in rewards and the $10 trade up coupon.

I spent $25 on it after GCU and rewards certs, which is the only reason I didn’t cancel the preorder. It took me a week to open it because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to return it or not. Now that I’ve gotten a full understanding of what the multiplayer is like, I’m not hesitating to sell it on eBay before it’s value plummets.

Question, when you order for store pick-up.
Does it count when you order, or when you pick it up?

I've had both happen at BestBuy which is why I asked.

I’m thinking I should wait on battlefront for another month or two. Is the game really that broken right now ?
It finally got another patch last night that seems to have fix the lag and server crashing issues. I didn't get a lot of time to test though, only played about three rounds. If it matters at all, they will be releasing more content right as the movie releases in two weeks time. I'm assuming it means another MP map and the SP will be finished out since it's left on a cliffhanger (and no spoilers but there is some VERY important information regarding Rey in the SP story).

If you are playing more tonight please inbox me about your experience. If that’s fixed at least I will then get the game next week. Something is telling me that the pressure will keep the micro transactions out as Disney forced them to take it out to begin with lol

Oh the MXT thing is done. They stated it would return but I can guarantee it will not. If anything they'll balance the grind so it's not as cumbersome now that MXT are gone.

I'm more of a casual gamer dad nowadays and bought BF2 on the first day. I enjoy it a lot, but it IS a grind to play and level up (I'm at level 13 now). I'm trying to focus on the officer character for now. My son honestly played more of the first BF so I'm focused on trying to play it in my limited free time. I'm liking it a lot and the MXT issue is really a non-issue. My biggest complaint is that I suck at it, but I'm trying!
