PayPal - $5 off $20 Nintendo purchase

I'm thinking this only works for a single item right?

I'd grab Stardew Valley and Thumper but there's no add to cart option
 
Hahaha; I was just coming here to post about this. Got the e-mail offer too. Time to buy a new Switch game I suppose!
 
I'm guessing we can only do this once, right? I might get spelunker party with it since it's on sale right now. Anyone know if it's good?

 
If I have money in my account, will it still let me use PayPal? Or do I have to empty my account wallet to use a different form or payment?

Yeah I'm curious about this as I have about 3 dollars of credit in my Nintendo wallet. I'm also curious about the amount. I'd like Rocket League or the Zelda Season pass, but they are both 19.99. Will that be eligible?

Debating on picking up I Am Setsuna with this since it's on sale or waiting until the next sale and seeing if there is something else I want more.
 
How the heck am I not eligible I use paypal all the time, or is it just you have to get the email

So in the terms it does say you have to get the email, why not just have it as a normal offer with all paypal offers.

Europe had the paypal deal everybody could us it, this is so dumb

If we just go to the eshop and add $20 in funds, I would think that would count right? The terms and conditions in the email do not stipulate what an eligible purchase is, all is says is $20 purchase or more on the eshop or nintendo.com

Can we do that through Nintendo.com? If so, I'm not seeing it.

 
I'm eligible but can't seem to get it to work.

Linked my Nintendo account with PayPal and tried adding $20 funds but don't see the discount on the final checkout page.

Tried with a game instead but it's using my existing wallet balance to pay for it instead.
 
I redeemed the offer, linked my paypal, and I'm trying to buy the zelda expansion, but everytime I go through nintendo.com or on the switch itself, it doesn't show the $5 discount. I thought it might be because zelda is 19.99 but on the switch it says $20 funds added but still no discount. Did anyone get this deal and get it to work?

 
Yeah... Not seeing a discount either on the final eShop screen. DM'd Paypal Support on twitter to get clarification.

You will see the discount on the emailed receipt and the PayPal statement, it's how it worked for me.

The discount is AFTER you buy it. I can confirm after buying Setsuna. was 25 during checkout, got an email from paypal saying 20.xx. You're good to go

 
Sorry, can't quote the post, since I don't have enough posts yet, but hope you see this.

I bought something that was $19.99, came over 20 with tax, pretty sure just the transaction has to be $20 or over in order to qualify. I didn't have any eshop balance to go towards the purchase. I bought it with Nintendo(dot)com, but I'm sure it will work on the Switch, unfortunately only way to know if it worked is after you get the receipt.

Thanks. Just added $20 to my wallet through the eShop and got an email for the $5 discount after purchasing it.
 
Why are some of us not eligible? I wish they could be more clear about this, but I bet they didn't plan on my ilk ever knowing about the deal...

and (3) receive an authorized email containing the invitation to participate in the offer (eligibility for/those who receive such an email will be determined solely by PayPal)

Not a bad excuse to buy the Zelda season pass. If it works for either of my Paypal accounts I might get the FE Warriors season pass too.

I got the PayPal email but I can't figure out how to link my PayPal account to Nintendo. When I go to My Nintendo all it says is PayPal - Not Set. Everything is greyed out. I've never used a CC with Nintendo but sheesh they don't make it easy doing business with them.

I tried going to the eShop and the only two CC options are Mastercard and Visa. What am I missing?  :bomb:

nvm: I found the answer. I need a Nintendo Switch to link PayPal, after that I can use PayPal on either a Wii U or 3DS. I still don't have a Switch, double damn.

Thanks for the heads up.  clicked "redeem" link in email. Linked paypal to eshop.  added 20.00 to account via paypal.  only charged 15.00 (per emailed receipt).  all via Switch eshop.

Yea it should just be a normal offer on paypal for everybody, they would make way more money

 
Has anyone with an e-shop balance been able to get this to work? Every time I try to check out it wants to deduct from my balance. Paypal isn't even an option.

Also, why the can't I add multiple items to my cart? I want to get Golf Story and Picross and get the discount. I'd settle for Battle Chef or Puyo Puyo Tetris.

Just go to the eShop store on a computer or tablet and when you're at checkout it'll give you a Paypal option and you can link it from there.

 
Does this work at eBay for items bought via Nintendo as the seller? I just bought something a few days ago and might complain to CS and see if I can get them to honor my prior purchase.

 
just curious... did everyone who got the "may not be eligible" warning already connected their paypal accounts to their nintendo eShop account? As that was my case. Would anyone like to try removing their eShop account from PayPal and retry? Revoke it directly from PayPal's side if you're going to try. I' m just wayyy too busy to try.
