Octodad was the only thing I purchased from the Holiday Sales and this Flash Sale. No regrets.

I got Parappa The Rapper and Loco Roco. I already beat Parappa and felt accomplished since I could never beat it as a kid.

If you buy God Eater Resurrection for PS4, don't forget to buy and download the free Alternate Characters DLC:

https://store.playst...ERESNPCBUNDLE00

Good looking out man, I would have slept on that if you hadn't pointed it out.  I ended up picking up God Eater Resurrection, PaRappa, LocoRoco, Hotline Miami 2 and Octodad.  :)

I almost got Parappa, then I remembered how short it was.  So I passed and went for Knack and Loco Roco.

Was considering Tetris Ultimate until I found out that 3 of the game modes are add-on DLC... and it looks like the game has some kind of online check-in DRM, even for single player. Pass.

I was considering that one, until I read others mentioning it wasn't a very good version of Tetris.  I had Tetris/Puyo on the Switch but ended up trading that in recently as I was pretty disappointed with it and figured this would be a decent replacement.  I guess you really still can't beat the DS version.

Why is the PSP metal gear not for vita? Pressure sensitive buttons?

Never played any of the Metal Slug games before and after watching a few gameplay videos, it looks similar to Contra. Is that an accurate comparison?

Metal Slug > Contra, but yes they are in the same vein...

Contra for the NES was one of my favorite games so this is a pretty big claim - for $5 I'll give it a try. I mistakenly purchased the version they released on XBLA without doing any research first and could not have been more disappointed to see it wasn't the game I knew and loved.

Final haul for me:

$2.49 - Frisky Business
$4.49 - Necropolis
$4.99 - Jackbox Party Pack 3
$4.99 - God Eater Resurrection
$4.99 - UNO
$4.99 - Mount and Blade Warband
$4.49 - Jazzpunk: Director's Cut
$2.99 - Daylight
$2.99 - Octodad

I'm at work which is why I copied and pasted with prices first.

Give it a go, I also grew up on a steady diet of Contra, but Metal Slug is just so over the top and is always throwing new things at you to keep it fresh. Plus its not a really new series or anything, I think the first Metal Slug is 20+ years old at this point -  amazing couch co op if you have someone to play with. I think you'll dig it

My knee jerk reaction was to call this claim blasphemous, but upon further deliberation I think I’d have to agree...and I effing LOVED Contra, Super C and Alien Wars.

RAWKET LAWNCHA.

Yes, Metal Slug over Contra completely. As much as I enjoy Contra and all it's spin offs; the animation, charm and boss battles of Metal Slug just make for a better overall experience.

Thinking about picking up KNACK... $5 is my kinda price for it. Did anyone here use the Knack's Quest iOS/Android app alongside the game? The servers for it are getting shut down on March 28th so I'm wondering if that will hurt the progress of the main game. Just curious more than anything as I'm getting the game regardless.

The iOS app is actually very hard. It's your typical match 3 game but the score needed to unlock a reward increase each time. I've unlocked 2 parts and that enough for me. It's a great time waster if you have nothing else to do but it's actually quicker, easier and more efficient to unlock parts by playing the main game. It helps if you have friends that have played the game before as you can choose their reward if they got something better when you open a chest. Cheers!

Honestly for all the hate this game gets I was expecting a terrible game but it's actually pretty fun!

Yeah, Knack is not a bad game at all and the sequel is even better. Maybe it just didn't have that "wow" factor that people expected from a launch game on a new console.

Agree with this.  It's nothing special, but it is a decent game.  The co-op can be a little frustrating, though, if you're player #2 since it was clearly done as an afterthought and much better implemented for Knack 2.

Well to be honest, Metal Slug (all of them) in general slowed to a crawl lots of times on original Neo Geo hardware.  The original games were 4:3, too.  The blurriness is a legitimate point, but it is a great cheap way to enjoy the series for a cheap price.

I had the same issues as the OP but to your point it's hard to say if it really is anything but nostalgia coloring the experience better than it actually was and that the PS2 port was actually decent. For 5 bucks it's really hard to be mad and you even get decent trophy distribution and freeplay to start with so you can just brute force through the game and delete it if you want. There seems to be control lag I don't remember but again having only played emulated version and the arcade version as a child I don't know for sure.

If you haven't bought Oxenfree, do yourself the favor.  It's just as creepy as it is enthralling, and to get the theme and soundtrack it's actually cheaper than just getting the base game.  At $5 this is easily one of the best things you can buy on the sale right now.

Oh shit, did it end already?  Well...next time.  I thought it was done at the end of the day.

It goes on sale every now and then and it's REALLY worth it.

It goes on sale pretty often (like every 2-3 months often), so I wouldn't sweat it much.

Metal Slug (even in the arcade, which I played back in the 90s) never had truly crisp control.  That's why I bristle when compared to Contra, which to me is a very different game.  Metal Slug is about slow, methodical progress and sometimes it seems that incredible animation takes precedence over control.  Contra (especially the home ones, the arcade ones were a little sluggish) is tight, fast moving action.  I love both, but they never really compared directly in my opinion.

But yeah, $5 is an absolute steal for the Metal Slug games, even if they don't look perfect.  I paid more than that for it prior to this sale and wasn't disappointed.
