Rocket League (Physical Copy) Switch - $19.99 ($15.99 GCU)

Considering the Switch copy normally has the $10 Switch tax ($39.99 regular price vs. $29.99 regular price on the other consoles) this is a pretty sweet deal.

Saw this earlier- great deal. I don’t care much, if at all, for the dlc, so I’m deciding on physical or eshop deal still. Leaning towards eshop for the convenience.

You're shitting me. I just bought it on the eshop for 15 with no dlc. Fml.
yeah that shit is annoying. I bought it for $20 when it came out because there were no plans for a physical copy...then they announce the physical copy with all dlc. Same with steamworld dig 2.

How long does it take for GCU to kick in? I let mine expire recently and finally found something I wanted to get,

The bat mobile is the only DLC car anybody serious about winning uses (that is, if you don’t consider crate cars bought with keys DLC) so you kinda don’t need the Collectors Edition, but having a copy that can be traded for only $1 to $6 more than what the digital version would be on sale for eventually, is a great deal.

The paint colors tied to the DLC actually kinda make it worth it. Pearlescent ones that can make your car mostly look like the opposite teams colors and stuff.

And unless I’m mistaken, these physical releases don’t actually include all the DLC, just a fraction of it, just the DLC that came out in like 2015. No fast and furious, no Nissan, no DeLoreon, no Batmobile, (no MARIO & Luigi hats?) etc.

I'm pretty sure you can add it to the cart and it applies to everything in the cart automatically. At least that's how it worked when I bought my GCU membership and Samus Returns amiibo. Was also able to apply discount to BotW Champions amiibo preorders retroactively with a call to customer service before release day.

Definitely looks like it. I got one for store pickup. When physical and digital games cost the same, physical is always the way to go! I don't feel bad for anyone that got it digitally.
except they don.t The MSRP is double that for Rocket League on Switch...Best Buy just happens to have a sale where the physical is still at a $5 premium (but it comes with some DLC that essentially does nothing gameplay wise - just colors for your cars)

It currently trades for $18 at GameStop ... I see a purchase for DLC in my future.

Would it work like that?

For example, could I buy this at bestbuy, put the cart in my system and “install”, then trade it in to gamestop. Buy the digital version off of th eshop and I still have the dlc?

If so- INTERESTING.

The DLC is a code inside the box, you can buy this enter the code and trade it in then buy the eshop version, which would equate to free DLC roughly $12 value.

Saw it on sale at BB, bought it for pickup.

Came here and saw this thread, now tempted to go pickup and head across the street to gamestop..

Picked this up. Even though my son plays exclusively on Xbox, this will be good to have for any road trips we take.

To those feeling burnt, stuff pretty much always goes down in price - Your time playing this the weeks before this physical copy is worth money. Half the games I buy day one are me paying a premium to play on release.

Personally I bought this digitally two weeks ago as well and just re-bought it because I like to collect physical games. Shit happens, just learn from it.

Exact reason I’ve put off buying mostly every Switch game that is only available digitally. Hoping for everything physical eventually, and if it’s not after a few years, I figure it’ll be dirt cheap digitally.

My backlog actually saves me a loooooot of money these days. Being patient is easy as hell.

Man I'm glad I didnt bite on the digital one earlier this week, might do like everyone else is suggesting though and trade the physical to get the extra dlc though.

i purchased it digital during xmas then got this and redeemed the dlc and traded in at game stop and was only out about a buck for most the dlc...

This is such a good price that Amazon doesn't even want to match it.  I can't remember the last time they didn't blindly match a Best Buy sale price when they still had it in stock.

Thanks for posting! I was able to use a cert and get this for $1.09. My son will be stoked when he finds out he just got a new game.

First, thanks, OP.

Second, not trying to hijack or derail the topic and forgive if this has been discussed somewhere -- I didn't find it -- but from what I saw Target doesn't carry Rocket League for the Switch.  My first thought was to price match there and use discounts for a little bit more off the price.

Has there ever been any known reason why they don't sell the game?  What's really weird to me is that I saw Target AUSTRALIA had it lol.  Anywho, thanks in advance for any insight.

Don't be salty because you don't have GCU. Physical FTW!!!
