I keep thinking about purchasing this. (Digital is on sale on PSN for $24)

Been playing the Free Weekend. It's pretty cool. I just don't know if I want to buy another "grindy" shooter.

Do you know if trophies unlock after purchasing full game? Was surprised when I noticed trophies were disabled.

This game held its price like a mofo.
I was actually surprised to learn that this game is one of the top selling games monthly since its release (I've never played). Plus, the new (free) PvP mode was added, so it seems to still have legs.

EDIT: More info from NPD: The best-selling games from Feb. 2017 - Feb. 2018:

  1. Call of Duty: WWII
  2. NBA 2K18
  3. Destiny 2
  4. Madden NFL 18
  5. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  6. Grand Theft Auto V
  7. Star Wars: Battlefront II
  8. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands
  9. Super Mario Odyssey
  10. Mario Kart 8

I wonder if we should expect a year 1/2 dlc version like we got w the siege game.

For wildlands, can you play the PvE dlc solo or do you have to co op?

Pro TIV at GameStop is 19.25, too. Before the added 30% if you put it towards God of War or LABO ($25). Not a bad flip if you have gcu and pro.

Thanks OP, picked one up and so did some friends waiting on it to drop below $20. Should be fun when we’re bored over the summer and nothing is coming out. But honestly it might just hit the backlog as I don’t remember a drought last year.

Is year 2 dlc included in the season pass?
Unfortunately not it’s 29.99 right now. I haven’t finished the game yet so lucky enough I’m no where needing to pick it up. But it looks good An they drop a ton of dlc for the game as time has gone on

Thanks for the info. Then I don’t mind waiting until the full version is complete and Xbox sells it as a cheaper bundle. Thanks for the info.

I really don't need this but 16 bucks is tempting. Is the game any good at all single player?
I've only played it singleplayer. It's enjoyable although I think out of playing it for two free weekends now I've got what I wanted out of it.

If you're willing to put time in on another grind shooter, it's a very good one of those.

Granted, I ain't finished it...b/c I played it on PC during Beta Tests, Free Weekend, and recently bought it for the PC.

It's good, but not great from what I played, IMHO.

It all depends on if you're tired of open-world UbiSoft style grind-fests. It's basically an open-world Ubi game mixed w/ elements of stealth, shooting, GTA-style vehicle driving, and the Tom Clancy franchise style of realism -i.e. take one shot or a few shots, you're dead (except for The Division's bullet-sponge of a festival which breaks a lot of typical TC games' stuff). It's not as tactical and lacks a lot of control of your squad, unlike some other older GR games.

EDIT:

I need this game with season pass under $20 [emoji29]
That would've been nice.

I recently bought PC version from UbiSoft for download for $19.80 for GR WL base-game and the GR WL Season Pass was $6.

Would've been better, if I didn't fall asleep last Friday when a bunch of PC games where 50% off on Razer's Game Store, as I could've got GR WL base-game for around $10 or so. Oh, well - can't win 'em all.

Wow. That is a really sad list, minus the Nintendo games.

Damn this would go on sale the week Yakuza 6 and God of War come out. Really tempted to get this for this price, been wanting to play it for awhile.

Picked the game up yesterday and started to play. Anyone else having darkness issues on the X1X?

It's almost unplayable for me at night, even after messing with the settings.

Played some during the free weekend last week to see if the game improved much since the beta, and it's still hot garbage.  I still call this the worst AAA release of the current generation (yes, I know about Andromeda and Battlefront 2).  Destructoid's review is spot on, the game is fucking bad.  I wouldn't even recommend playing it if it was free.

Worse than Homefront?

Worse than Homefront?
Oof, I forgot about Homefront. I didn't play that so I don't know. All I can say is that, for me, Wildlands is less fun than doing nothing at all. It feels like the result of throwing a lot of money at developers that had 0 passion for the game they were making. It's bland in world design, actively frustrating in game design, and dialogue is something an edgy teen would come up with. Maybe the story when taken as a whole is interesting, but I didn't experience the full story. It's pretty much the only game I'm passionately upset about. I see no redeeming qualities in this game, even technically it's weak by comparison to other games (one of those games that looks good in a screenshot and bad in motion, at least with a normal viewing distance on a computer monitor).

Ghost recon devs took a shit in your cereal? Lol

Get some friends. It’s a fun game.

Played with friends, we enjoyed shitting on it and agreeing we didn't want it for free because it's, dare I say it, objectively bad in numerous ways. I don't just throw that phrase around. Played with friends in both the beta and the recent free weekend. It's a bad action shooter, it's a bad stealth shooter, it's a bad sandbox game, and lastly it's a terrible co-op game, the design favors playing solo. Admittedly the RPG elements seemed fairly solid. If you want a fun sandbox, play GTA. If you want a good stealth shooter, play MGS5. If you want a good shooter...play literally anything else from the past few years, that genre is constantly done well. This game failed at basically everything it wanted to be.

In all seriousness, what did you enjoy in this game? What specific thing did you enjoy in this game that would have also been fun without friends? I extracted 0 fun from the game itself, and I'm always looking for the good in a game. I'm leaning towards thinking online co-op pickings are too slim on console that somehow this game can standout.

Oh as for why I'm posting my disdain for the game, I like to weigh in on here for games I've played and try to help out whoever is reading through the thread. I strongly feel that Wildlands isn't worth your time, let alone your money, so I want to voice that opinion.

Damn, savage lol. I still have a sealed gold copy from when I bought the Amazon CE for $60 that I might just sell now. I don't mind playing it solo but I must admit MGSV is pretty hard to top. Loved that game.

This review is definitely extreme. It's been a year, I'm confident that those bugs have been addressed.

I would give it a 7.5. $25 is a good price for it after playing since Friday. Almost done taking over a second "area".

It does start doing the Assassin's Creed thing. Go to the next part of town, do these things to open map/missions, kill boss, move to next town. But, it's fun as hell.

With that, I caved and purchased it.

I played some over the Free weekend and it seemed fine. Exactly what I expected.
For me it just looked to ”grindy” for me to want to put too much time into right now. I’m more of a gun blazing type of guy so I’m not too big on stealth games that are that big of a time sink but if you’re looking for a stealth time sink it looks pretty good.

As someone who played this game on day one, that destructoid review is way too hostile and exaggerated.  Sounds like that person had a personal vendetta or had a bad day.

The game is fun with friends (though harder to do full stealth unless you're all communicating).  It's great solo (much easier to complete missions in stealth).

My main complaint at the time was the horrible vehicular handling, but playing it again this past weekend, it seems like they had an update that fixed all that.  Flying choppers is much easier and more intuitive now.

Also tried some of the PvP this weekend, which was not available at launch, and I enjoyed it.  Reminded me a bit of Rainbow 6 Siege, but in a different environment (more open playing fields, more sniping options vs. confined interior arenas).
