FFVIIR is definitely going to be very linear, but this combat looks really fun.

Laughable that it's episodic. They're really tooting their own horns on how big it is. Uhh Witcher 3 and RDR2 were enormous and and had one release and I guarantee their file sizes will be bigger than FFVII remastered.

OMG that FFVIIR gameplay and new trailer! Won't lie that trailer brought a tear to my eye. I beat FFVII at it's release and still one of the best game experiences I've ever enjoyed (yes I'm that old). It sucks it's episodic but I'll patiently wait. So so excited! Looks like the team is doing it right.

They just announced it is all in Midgar.

Where did they announce this?  I missed the first three minutes of the E3 presentation, but all the news outlets are reporting that the game is going to come on two blu-ray discs with only the first disc being entirely in Midgar since they want to expand that part of the game.

It was like the first thing he said. Two discs will most likely mean: an install disc and a play disc, like RDR2.

FF VII Remake reminds me a lot of Crisis Core on PSP.

I'm so happy FF8 remaster is actually happening!

FF7R looks incredible and I can't wait to play it.

Also it's really cool to see so many games coming to the west for the first time getting remastered. Square Enix's was a great conference for RPG lovers.

Yeah, but no news about Star Ocean 1 remake on ps4, or maybe fucking bringing over the ps4 port of 2

They should just go ahead and give FF7R a Midgar subtitle to end the confusion.  The level of polish and spectacle that's being shown so far for just the early game scenes indicates it's unlikely FF7R will go much beyond Midgar.  Open world can be saved for the 2nd part on next gen systems.

So far square Enix has won E3 IMO. Microsoft was good but too many CGI trailers, could have had a slam dunk but just missed

The amount of JRPGs shown was insane

I got confused too. I tried telling people that games just don't scale the way they think they do, but Midgar alone being on 2 disks would absolutely cement that.

Had a power outage for part 2 of the conference so I'm off to find Avengers footage.

You'll probably have figured it out by the time you read this, but you didn't miss much.

I think Microsoft was very average especially considering they had a real opportunity to capitalize on the Sony absence.  I do agree that Square Enix has arguably the best lineup of games releasing, but depending on Nintendo, this has been a pretty forgettable E3.  Devolver Digital's direct deserves a mention though, I thought it was hilarious.

I would guess we aren’t getting open world at all. It would not surprise if this ends up being like the last half of Final Fantasy XV, jumping from scene to scene, place to place.

Emphasis on “remake” - they aren't going 1:1. I could see this being an Uncharted or Last of Us cinematic retelling of FFVII

FF VII Remake reminds me a lot of Crisis Core on PSP.

I didn't get that at all.

FF7R's normal attacks are just for killing time in between ATB charging. Meanwhile, CC was almost purely hack and slash.

The sale ended today.

Yeah, i missed out too.

I kind of miss the days when all sales were tuesday to tuesday and flash sales were 90% predictable based on time of month + holiday influence.

Now i sometimes miss buying standard Tuesday to tuesday sales thinking they're part of other sale.

Looks like Sony decided to skip not only E3 but also any PSN sales the same week. :oldman:

Eh since PS plus has been not as great since March I went a different route and some of us actually have a gaming budget

Dude, you cancelled a service and still wanted to play the games. That isn't a 'different route' and don't play the 'gaming budget' card trying to shame me when you're the one complaining you can't rip them off.

I thought it was. Adds a side story and gives an opportunity to complete all your gadgets/suits/etc. Plus it's pretty much required if you're a trophy hunter or perfectionist.  It has a lot tougher enemies, though.

It adds about 10 extra hours of story to the game. The middle is very weak, but the beginning and end are great. I would say it is worth it.

Can anyone explain the difference between the Final Fantasy XV Royal Pack and the season pass?  I bought the disc a few months back and haven't delved into it, so I'm wondering if I shouldn't play the vanilla game and then wait to buy any DLC to see if I'm going to like it.

The season pass has the episodes in it and the royal pack has the new stuff added to the Royal Edition.
