DC Blackest night and Brightest day questions.

Comixology is having another DC green lantern sale. A bunch of digital volumes and single issue are on sale. So my question is to anyone who has got to read this whole series. What is the most cost effective way to read the whole story. I see two different blackest night volumes and various other issues with it.

I thought that the story was available in one book? This looks like it could get expensive to read the blackest night and brightest day series .

Any help with this would be appreciated.

I was going to put this in the comic section in the off topic forum, but after searching for a bit. It hasn't been active in months.
 
If you want just the main event, you get that in the Blackest Night book. If you want the best of the supplemental story you'd need to get both Blackest Night and Blackest Night: Green Lantern. 

If you want to know the big bullet points that happened spinning out of Blackest Night that changed the status quo of the characters in the DCEU, you'd need to pick up Brightest Day which effectively ties up the last few loose ends left dangling after Blackest Night. You'll also need to pick up Green Lantern: Brightest Day because it serves again as really great supplemental stuff.

So yeah, if you want a complete Blackest Night story (just following the GLs and the changes that happen during Blackest Night), you'll need at least Blackest Night, Blackest Night: Green Lantern, Brightest Day vol 1-3, and Green Lantern: Brightest Day.

Now, there's also all the minis that were released like BN: Batman, BN: JSA, and a slew of Brightest Day minis. They're largely inconsequential to the main story and depend if you enjoy reading those characters present in those series, but I would personally suggest picking up Batman, Superman, Flash, and Tales of the Corps as they are some of the most fun stories they were doing with the characters at the time. Tales of the Corps specifically is a really great anthology story collection. Flash is probably the one story I would suggest picking up the most, as well because he plays a really big part in the finale of BN. 

Now that I've typed all that out, yes, it is a lot. But it's worth it. It's a great story and it's one of the few events I didn't mind actually collecting every issue of physically. Action Comics had a dope wrapup for Superboy Prime, too.

edit: Oh yeah, they also have Untold Tales of the Blackest Night. It's another anthology book and I consider it a must buy at 99 cents. It's a really fun read.

Thanks for the info. I've checked on the hardcover versions and it appears that it could cost over $100 not including all of the brightest day.
It looks like it would be a really interesting series to read. I'm interested in seeing if the Batman BN issues are worth getting.
I have until the 7th to make my purchase.
What I currently have in my cart is

Brightest day Vol 1-3
Untold tales of BN

So you would recommend tales of the corp?
The 3 minis of batman , flash and Superman look interesting.

I saw wonder woman but not GL mini series

And it is essential.

Blackest Night Batman is fun because it's basically an Elseworld where all of Gotham has to hold off a Zombie Invasion. You get to see characters doing things that you'd have never thought about before. Red Robin with a flamethrower is super badass, too.
