Wanted to try this game, but it really seems like a $20 or less ($16.99 GCU soon hopefully) type game. This is purely multiplayer without a story mode right?

Yup, and I don't think I could even recommend it at $20. It's such a one dimensional game that gets old fast. Friday the 13th is one of my absolute favorite horror franchises and it still bored me to tears.

There's an offline bot mode now that they patched in. You can only play as Jason as far as I know. I think you can select the number of counselor bots and difficulty. I think they said that you can't play as a counselor because they couldn't get the Jason AI right or something. So, uh, yeah.

They're actually working on a single player "challenge" mode and previewed it in February, but they're still working on it. I guess it's supposed to be inspired by Hitman and involve you sort of stealth killing counselors as Jason, but it doesn't have a release date yet. Kind of ridiculous that they're basically still trying to patch in the promised rest of the game a year after its release.

Yeah. It's at least more polished and playable now. When it was first released, it was the multiplayer only and was a bug-filled mess with horrible matchmaking (as in it would sometimes literally take like 15 minutes to get into a match, even if there were a lot of people online). They kind of fixed that through a ton of patches and even gave us some free stuff via the patches to apologize for the mess.
