Best Buy GCU just BURIED ME - RIP

I received an email from Best Buy yesterday. It stated that they are canceling my GCU account for violation of terms of service. Alongside that, and this is the WORST part - my rewards account gets forfeited.

I spend $5,000 a year at Best Buy. No joke. $5K easy. I buy video games, appliances, TVs, gadgets - you name it! I buy it.

I accumulate hundreds of dollars of points a year. ALL GONE. I am at ZERO ZERO ZERO again. I called Best Buy Elite number to find out a little more about why I get blacklisted and here the jist of what we talked about:

I purchased way too many copies of the same game over the duration of my GCU membership. I know the limit is 3 copies per game, per year, per system or something like that. It was a chance I took, and financially, it worked out for me in the end. 20% off hard to find games, collector editions, etc - it was very lucrative for me.

The nice lady gave me a run down of my history of purchases that violated the terms. I will not disclose that here, because I do not need hate messages, being blamed for this and that, etc.

Lastly, she said that Best Buy is enforcing the terms now on GCU because the program has ended and their top priority is to phase it out ASAP. So you if you still have an active GCU, please do not violate the terms. They are looking to gun you down.

I hope this is a lesson for those who still have GCU - enjoy it while it lasts. They are watching and they will take it away from you, along with your Elite Status, reward points, and such. Also, as a random side note, all my preorders I made while still active with GCU are still there and the GCU discount is still reflected. So only time will tell if those orders will be fulfilled.

Good luck to all of you with GCU.

I went over the limit just once with Breath of the Wild. Used up all my points just in case.

Has anyone that went over the limit once had their account nuked?

I think in years past it didn't matter. Since day one, I always went over the limit for many limited/collector editions. I think because GCU is ending, they are finally enforcing the rule. Just be careful and don't do it again.

I never reached Elite status, even with GCU.  On my last month of GCU, would you advise going out with style like you?

I figure, I don't spend near as much as I probably should have with GCU.  Then again, the account is under a family member's name and not my own.

You've got a month left? Pre-order everything under the sun and go out in style. My pre-orders are still priced at the GCU price.

Might as well... if you change you mind, just cancel.

You can't blame 'em! They've got to save money so they can afford that brilliant new logo which they totally didn't steal from Bud Light.

And my GCU is done!  Figured, I would have had another day as it said it was expiring tomorrow.

Glad, I grabbed what I could at the last minute.  Buy 2 Get 1 Free at Target totally got in the way of me from buying more from Best Buy.
