I'm all for physical media and most of the time won't even buy digital titles... But a disc and a collectors edition for an online only game seems so absurd to me. Easy pass.

I bought the PipBoy edition and my wife wants this one too. I figured it would be $200, but I want to wait for Amazon to pre-order it since they won't charge until it ships. I also personally don't care if we get one or not because the PipBoy was worthless and just takes up space now.

Wanted PC version, ended up having to settle for PS4 Collector's Edition and PC Deluxe Edition, will hopefully break even selling disc+DLC for PS4.

Any idea if the Deluxe Edition comes with the Steelbook or is it just game disc + DLC code(s)?

I wish I would've got the socks edition instead of pip boy...takes up too much space and no dlc. I still haven't played the dlc either b/c its overpriced imo...especially since I'm only interested in single player campaign lone wanderer gameplay :/

got one for the ps4 earlier while i was on break at work. kinda glad i did cause now its sold out
It's still available now on Best Buy. If the PipBoy edition is any indication, if you want this you'll be able to pay retail price for it. I'll be buying two copies of the game already so I am going to try to avoid buying this as long as I can, but I know my wife is going to talk me into it.

It's going in and out of stock as people cancel orders. It is pretty much sold out. I saw the PC version come back for a second but was gone by the time I tried to complete the order

Just flipped from "Pre-Order" back to "Coming Soon" on the PC edition. Hope they do an actual restock at some point.

Best Buy doesn't charge until it ships either...

They place a pending charge that falls off in a day or two. My CC looks like a mess after yesterday but I know it'll come down hundreds of dollars soon haha.

did you not watch e3? todd howard said twice that you can absolutely play single player like previous fallouts, it's a one player game with online added it's not an mmo or pvp game.

Still on the fence some GCU is still a thing for now. Between this and Rage 2, Rage might win. Billy the talking mutant is fucking weird and I'd get more enjoyment than a helmet.

Perhaps the poster referred to the fact that it is on their servers? Maybe you have to have an online connection like Destiny or The Division?

It was my understanding that it was online only - like ESO. Yeah you can play it single player, but I thought you needed to be online to play...meaning the disc content is just an install rather than the actual game on the disc.

I actually hope that I misunderstood that. I don't pay for PS+ and certainly don't have any interest in potentially paying for a game subscription on top of that. I was kinda half asleep. I honestly hope I'm wrong because I like Fallout and would definitely buy this if I didn't need to be online to play.

Yeah, I am also generally way more interested in Rage 2. Fallout 76 will be fun though and I like that I can play it with my wife.

i think he was just saying that they had dedicated servers for the game as opposed to p2p connection where other players having a bad connection would cause lag. he also said that a maximum of 16 players could play on the same game that doesn't sound like elder scrolls online at all. i understood it that you could play by yourself like you always have or with up to 16 friends online.

i hope you misunderstood and not me because i don't have ps+ either i only play single player games.

either way it's safe to preorder because of the beta we'll know how it is before it comes out you can always cancel. or do in store pickup and just never pick it up if after it comes out you decide you don't want it.

I sold mine pretty much at cost, got game for free essentially. I liked it until I put it on.
I made a decent profit on mine... thought it was the coolest collectible ever but opening it up to put the phone in constantly was a pita. Might order this one...

I still have my Pip boy sealed in its box. I'm done putting money in the closet even though I'm fighting with my self to get this or not.. Decisions, decisions, decisions.... Cheap ass gamer? More like Tremendous Backlog Gamer!!!

A few people down on the Fallout merch in here ... I’m all in, the helmet looks like a cool recreation of the original Fallout 1 power armor helmet and I’m psyched for the little ‘army man’ style fallout figures. Basically what I’m saying is ... screw the haters, all in 😜

Fallout 76 has always-online DRM, even for single player, so the disc you're collecting will be a coaster when they turn off the servers.  This is just as pointless as buying Lawbreakers Collector's Edition.

Wonder what the material ratio for the helmet is and does it also have any functions like a light or something.

I felt serious buyer's remorse after getting the pip-boy edition last time, so I didn't even consider buying this until I checked the Best Buy website on a whim and it was in stock. I absolutely hate the practice of flipping, but if the beta is awful, I figure I can sell this for a good profit. Even if I do end up keeping it, I can likely sell just the helmet and bag and break even. I was still able to sell just the pip-boy by itself with missing bits and torn cushions for almost what I paid for the whole Fallout 4 collector's edition, a full year after it came out. So I don't really see the harm.

New report claims 95% of preorders for this limited edition being held by flippers waiting to see if they'll make a profit.
I didn't even bother when I had the chance to order one yesterday. I don't need the extras and I don't want to get stuck with it trying to flip it with just about everyone else that buys the thing. I wish I would have sold my PipBoy when I got it, but I still have it taking up space.

You can tell they raised the price to combat resellers. By all means, they want resellers though. It boosts initial sales. It’s very good for their business model. But there is also the battle of making the most profit per unit. $200 was a dangerous price, as it does not leave much meat on the bone for flippers, and the price point is very dangerous for a flip. So, their initial order numbers will likely be much lower than if they did otherwise with like a $150 price point. The thought of buying 10 of these to flip is scary. Hell, even having 1 or 2 is scary, at this price. The Pip Boy was what, $120? Those were selling for $150-200 relatively short after release on the secondary market. It was also a piece of junk. Cheap plastic, cheap foam, broke easily. It’s not out of realm to think this is a cheap plastic mold, rather than a solid piece helmet.

$200 after tax is around $215. Which means you need to sell it for $400 to net a worthwhile return on your investment for your time, and to pay eBay or amazon fees.

Will consumers pay $400 for this? I kind of doubt it. I think a more realistic price they will pay is $280, which leaves no meat on the bone for profit.

The game will probably be great. I’ll buy it. I have the collectors edition preordered. But I’m passing on this one for large scale flipping. The numbers don’t work to do so.

Well Best Buy curbed the mass flippers courtesy of the GCU ban and removal of new accounts. Most of the margin was from GCU purchases.
