Atari 2600 Freaks?

I'm an Atari 2600 fanatic, just seeing who else is on here that LOVES the old Atari console.

I'm interested in the 5200 and 7800, but I haven't been able to purchase them yet.

Resurrecting this cause it's a shame to let it go without a reply! Yes, grew up with the 2600, looking for some nostalgia, let's bring it here.

I need to get my Atari hooked back up. I always have a great time when I play it. That was back when games played like games and were more fun and less theatrical.

Resurrecting this because I haven't had actual real internet in months. Sorry about that guys! Catching up on PMs and everything. Phew.

Phanstar do you have a pretty solid 2600 collection?

Probably an unpopular opinion but I never really understood how anyone enjoys the 2600 in 2019 and I grew up with it. NES/Master System is far back as I can go because everything before that looks plays like an untested beta version of an old Nokia phone game.  My hat off to you guys who can stand tic-tac-toe visuals in console form.

You have to appreciate games that pushed the limits or were fairly faithful arcade translations. Doesn't mean you have to play them for hours on end... but some of the homebrews are also very worthy.

I had been hoping, RG would bring out another DVD of their back issues, but it seems like they just sell them digitally now, individually.

Even my 24 year old son can appreciate some of the early 2600 games. Some of them are even still fun! People need to understand the history of gaming. If they know the limitations of what developers had to work with back then, it can help them appreciate what we have today. And the best way I've found to do that is show people 2600 games side-by-side comparing lazy, bad games and good games that pushed the limits. Good game design was so much more important back then, and some of the graphics were very creative to get so much out of such a limited system.
