We have a new thread because I wanted to give everyone a fresh start and let what happened in the old thread die with it. First, I want to apologize to anyone that has felt threatened by my attempts to discuss with them. It was not my intention to do so, but I've learned that my blunt way of writing about things along with others joining in to dogpile on people has hurt people in the past and I'm truly sorry for that. That's shitty of me to not notice that then and I'll be doing what I can to avoid that in the future. Please, if there's any sort of discussion going on in this thread or anywhere else, there's no reason to jump in and try to make things worse. That's a shitty thing to do to anybody if we're just talking about games or anything like that. If I start seeing anything like that, I'll get the mods involved to put a stop to it immediately.

 

The next thing I wish to discuss is an issue about myself, which has lead to me considering shutting down this and other threads I've run completely due to some general shift in tone of posting to being negative almost all of the time. I have a disorder called social anxiety that makes it so that social interactions with people in real life and on the internet much different than many of you, so my mind freaks out more over things as simple as getting a random PM from other CAGs or game invites on PSN/XBL/Steam or even seeing comments about how awful the sales are on the eShop. It makes it so that throwaway comments you might throw in after I've posted the list about the sale being bad or whatever really hits me personally as criticism about me or the work I do and just bums me out. It's irrational, wrong, and I do what I can to tell myself that that's not the case, but it's not always as easy as just writing this. It's something I have to deal with and I'll do the best I can to keep it at bay, but I figured some openness would help some of you realize that the things you post that you think have no effect on others can have a great effect. 

 

This doesn't mean you're not allowed to criticize Nintendo, me, or the sales, but being less hyperbolic, angry, or whatever would probably help change the general tone around here and hopefully lead to less sniping, trolling, and less bad attitudes that have lead to bad things happening in the past when it goes unchecked. I'd like to see this thread be more positive, helpful, and willing to talk about things without things blowing up over nothing and I'm hoping being open about this stuff helps with the general discourse around here. If you've somehow read all of this, that's cool and thanks for taking the time to read this rambling mess. If you just skipped to the end and read this, you're busted. Let's try to have a better time here and do what CAG was made for, which is to find great games at the prices you want to pay for them and have a good time.

Been a member since 2011 and post very less and I agree with this part. I just come see threads with your deals list as it's a lot more user friendly than a blog post or list anywhere else. Thanks for doing this.

Thanks for everything you do for CAG Frisky. In all honesty your work here and in the PSN thread are what keep me coming to the site. After all that has gone on in the last year with many different threads those two are the only reliable ones that keep me coming back and that is all because of your hard work.

I appreciate your honesty and openness and it is a real breath of fresh air in what can be a toxic environment (most internet message boards these days). I have never been offended or upset by the straight to the point nature of your responses. You respond to and help so many people that I just figure it gets annoying answering the same questions all the time so I understood.

I know I’ve felt insulted by your responses at times in the PlayStation thread but passed them off as temporary disagreements. Started Hollow Knight and it's been pretty good so far. The combat has some nice weight to it with the way that taking damage mutes audio for a second and the screen dims along with enemies taking damage causing orange particles to erupt out of them. It pushes on the standard of Metroid-style games having auto-mapping features, as you have to find the map maker to get a map along with another merchant to get the compass to highlight your position on the map. I'm guessing they just want you to actually learn the map, which I kind of get and am liking it.

 

The way they handle health is really cool. You have a juice meter that fills up with each enemy you defeat and if you've taken damage, you hold down the A button to refill one skull of health that uses up a portion of juice. If you're missing a few skulls of health, holding down A longer just continues refilling the missing skulls until you don't have enough for more. Another cool touch that I like is that save points are benches, which is something I really liked about Ico.

And yes, Hollow Knight is amazing. Ive put about 18 hours into it and I'm still hooked. I can barely put it down. Lots to do and yes, you get to know the map very well, and that is a good thing. It just keeps getting better. I'm a little worried what I'm going to do when it's over... lol.
