Starting to like Animal Crossing a little more, but the constant grind for miles so I can go to a new island for things like weeds is wearing me down.

Anyone have any must have recommendations for the Johnny Turbo Data East games on sale?  I already got Night Slashers and am probably going to get Bad Dudes and maybe Wizard Fire.  Any others to pick up for $1.99?

Friends don't let friends buy Bad Dudes.

I just reviewed eight of these games on my blog. Definitely get Nitro Ball! It's Smash TV meets pinball! Heavy Barrel is a military combat game, similar to Ikari Warriors but with better weapons. Sly Spy is hilarious in its shameless theft of elements from the James Bond movies. Night Slashers you already have. The others I could take or leave.

Damn kids today. I fondly recall dumping tokens into bad dudes at my local showbiz pizza as a kid.

Show some respect you whippersnapper. Now, remove yourself from my front yard.

Shut your face about bad dudes. You couldn’t even rescue President Ronnie.

I bought some of the Drageus Games sale items. Their games generally look like copies of more popular games.

Dead Dungeon was $0.39 instead of $0.74, though I didn't own any of their games. So I bought that to get the discount on other games.

Dead Dungeon - $0.39

Dark Burial - $0.09

Swordbreaker The Game - $0.49

Breathing Fear - $0.49

Tactical Mind 2 - $0.39

Atomic Heist - $0.39 (looks like Nuclear Throne)

Tardy - $0.49

Farabel (not listed in their collection) - $0.39

Sweet Witches - $0.49

Rolling over gold points knocked the tax off the totals. Not that I'll ever play them with grindy Nintendo games like ACNH and Pokemon ever-present in the background...

P.S.: Bad Dudes vs. DragonNinja is a damned arcade national treasure, better watch yourself.

I'm definitely biting on some of those Johnny Turbo games.  Definitely Night Slashers, and maybe Bad Dudes, Nitro Ball, and Gate of Doom.  Or would it be better to just skip to Wizard Fire?

Also, what's the best deal for getting Neo Geo games these days?  A few of those are on sale as well.  Metal Slug and Samurai Shodown (original) are on the list, though I know there's a Metal Slug Anthology on PS4 and there were talks of a Samurai Shodown collection.

Guys, released a couple of days ago, it is showing Free:

"Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms, an official free-to-play Dungeons & Dragons-based strategy game. Assemble your Champions and master the art of Formation Strategy."

https://www.nintendo...-realms-switch/

Don't know if it's good or not.

Idle Champions is a fun idle RPG that involves a lot of grinding and if you sign-up for the newsletter, you get weekly free stuff out of it. It's pretty fair for a free-to-play game since it doesn't push you to spend money on anything.

Thanks for this info. I picked up Atomic Heist at $1.19 since it was one game I was interested in from this publisher.

Then I reviewed their games list on my Switch and picked up Spirit Roots at a discount for $.69 Not bad for $2.

Why do you need so many weeds, though? I don't really think there's a "wrong" way to play Animal Crossing, but this definitely sounds like a less enjoyable way to go about it.

Played through the Steam version a lot back then. It's somewhat more involved than your typical idle game. Compared to something like Clicker Heroes or Cookie Clicker, where I guess there is one "hero" (you) and a bunch of "farms"/"assistants" to help you out. Idle Champions rely more on team composition AND positioning to maximize your team's effectiveness to get through the missions. Mission are also "shorter" and you're encouraged to restart more often, since they are structured more like individual quests and whatnot, if that makes sense. But it is an idle clicker through and through, but it did change up the formula enough that I stuck with it for about a year. (Not sure how it compared to the developer's other idle game.)

Definitely. Other than the first few days when you're first getting supplies to build stuff I've never really grinded for anything. You will eventually have more miles than you know what to do with.

I had almost 60k Nook miles before I started forcing myself to buy all the stuff and visit islands. I decided to fight Walmart today, and Animal Crossing is still $50 in store. I picked up Captain Toad, which was only $32.

I still have stacks of weeds in storage from when I initially picked them on my island.

I took the plunge and finally bought 2064 Read Only Memories the other day. Admittedly, I've never been a point-and-click/visual novel fan, but this game is something special. It's crafted with so much detail. You can tell this was a labor of love for the developers. I spent about an hour and a half on it last night (checked out some of the extras and then jumped in). It's packed full of charm with an awesome cyberpunk aesthetic. It's $2.99 rn. Sale ends on May 14th.

From the Drageus sale, I'd recommend Atomic Heist, Tardy and Pixel Gladiator. Pretty fun games for a super cheap price.

A large amount of recipes call for weeds, including the medicine for wasp stings. I'd rather make medicine than spend 400 bells for each one.

But you said you need to travel to islands for weeds. Your own island starts out with lots and lots of weeds.

You also don't need to use medicine. You'll be healed the next morning and it has no effect on you negatively.

This. it's cosmetic only.

Well the time it would take you to walk back to wherever you were if you get stung multiple times is the worst that can happen.

I had to visit an island for weeds too.  Essentially the reason was I sold all the weeds from my island initially to get the Nook Miles for selling weeds (you don't get it for weeding, only once you sell them).  Yesterday, I wanted to craft a ton of hedges and I just didn't have much in storage or on my island itself so it was far quicker to hit a mystery island and take them from there.

Surprised no one has mentioned this yet, but if anyone needs a further push, 2064 Read Only Memories is also a deliberate homage to Hideo Kojima’s classic PC Engine/Sega CD adventure game Snatcher, which was one of the few examples of Japanese point and click adventure games (which had a distinctly different style than their western counterparts) that ever made it to the west.

I got to interview development lead JJ Signal for my podcast a couple of years ago. We had a great conversation about how he wanted to make a game that wouldn’t be labeled a “queer game,” but that just happened to have a lot of great LGBTQ+ representation, as a normal matter of course.

So if you’re bummed that “Snatcher” isn’t playable in English on the new PC Engine/Turbografx-16 Mini consoles, and want to try something similar (why haven’t there been more “Snatcher-clones” in the indie dev scene, I wonder?) definitely give this game a shot. It’s already been in a few Humble Bundles but seems perfect for Switch, especially at this sale price.

But you can sell the ingredients for making medicine for more than the medicine costs.

Though make a couple just in case. Not for you, but for your villagers if they get sick.

NBA 2K20 is currently at $3.59 in the Japan eShop. It has multi-language, so no issues there.

I got 2K19 last year for 3 bucks in the US eShop, so I am assuming that eventually the 2K20 version discount will arrive there as well.

Looks good, but it’s from qubic games, so eventually it will be free or under $2 in a few months.

There's currently a 20% off sale on Panzer Dragoon: Remake for anyone who owns another Forever Entertainment title.

https://twitter.com/...521957482803201

https://nintendo.com...n-remake-switch

Or at least there's supposed to be according to their tweet. I'm not seeing the discount on the Nintendo site yet.

EDIT: I see the $19.99 price reflected in the cart.
