Amazon 20% Off Prime Preorders limited (Confirmed by CS)

CAGiversary!
I just ordered a trio of Switch games from Amazon: Dead Cells, Moonlighter, and Candle. I was suspicious ad to why the 20% was not showing up, but thought I'd give it a bit to apply. After a lengthy discussion with a CS rep, she referred me to the Promotion and Marketing division. It wasn't more than a day until they sent me an email directly saying g that from now on, all preorder discounts are ASIN specific and can be found on the list of eligible titles under their video game deals section.

Anybody else able to confirm? Sounds like they are tightening the discount until it will look like just a few titles each month that we can save on. Sucks, but I cancelled the order.

Sorry if this is common knowledge now, but this sounds like a legitimate confirmation from Amazon's own promotions team.

honestly this looks more like these titles just don't have the prime discount active for some reason despite being close to release, if you go to their page in incognito there's no mention of the prime discount either, normally it will tell you that you can get it cheaper if you had prime

The last holdout for blanket 20% off games has begun to walk in Best Buy and Gamestop's footsteps.  We all knew it was coming.

This actually puts Gamestop in an interesting position. They've been behind everyone for a long time now. But if they could somehow swing the 20% discount, they'd be the only one doing it. I know I'd actually start buying from them again if that happened.

No sure if you noticed but GS just phased out their elie program which was actually really good if you knew when to get the most out of it...

Newegg is quietly putting discounts on games in its mailing list pretty often. No tax for most people. Shipping varies

This is horrible honestly with many niche games not getting the pre-order discount anymore. I will likely get Punch Line full price (my love of VNs), but many other games will be passed on such as NISA random games, and Compile Hearts RPGs. I do agree that they are just phasing out the pre-order discount and soon it will be on just a few AAA games.

NewEgg also sold out their entire Connecticut fanbase regarding taxes and you have to report use taxes when you buy stuff through ebay/newegg. Courts voted in the state's favor this year for collecting sales tax... so good luck not getting taxed next year or in the future.

I think this really sucks. I'm in a odd position because all my X1 games are digital but I don't trust Nintendo to be backwards next gen. I hope I'm wrong.

Yep games essentially got a 25% price increase this summer.  And we didn't see a single headline saying that.

And they received even more of a price increase if you consider trade-in values at GS and BB just aren't what they were.  The TIVs have been a lot worse overall since last summer.
