I've had some minor issues with my pictures, but I wonder if it's the rom file and not the emulation.

Only PS1 game that required dualshock controller was Ape Escape. Some games were improved by dualshock, but you could still play them with the original controller. The controller is not to blame for this list being so weak.

Still should have included a dualshock.

More expensive that the S/NES Classics with a lesser list of games. Cancelled. Maybe put the actual classics on there rather than hold them due to their respective remasters/ongoing series (Crash, Spyro, Medievil, Tomb Raider)

btw anyone notice that, for at least Best Buy, they charge you the day you place the order rather than charge upon shipping which is the norm? Seems like someone's desperate to secure sales.

If you pay by credit card Best Buy does an authorization that drops off after about a week, then they charge in full right before shipping.

If you pay by Paypal they will charge in full at time of order though.

I am glad that they didn't include the games you mentioned. I'd rather play the remasters of Crash, Spyro, and Medievil. Tomb Raider just doesn't hold up at all IMO and it's even worse without the analog sticks. I'd have liked more platformers to have been included like Tomba! and Klonoa.

Best Buy also only pre-authorizes the amount and the actual charge won't go through until your item ship.

Not surprised a lot of you are disappointed, but this line-up is far from awful. I am actually really glad the Crash and Spyro games weren't included because I don't see why I would play the originals over the remasters on my PS4.

But that's just it for this costing more then the NES/SNES classics it should at least be on par "game wise" as those two right?  I mean when the NES/SNES classics came out I remember when people could take or leave about 2-3 games but this I feel like 15 of them could easily be replaced with MUCH better games.  Also the whole announcing there is a PSX classic with a "to be announced" lineup kind of adds insult to injury I mean seriously we waited for this?

I wouldn't say that the Playstation Classic is not on par game-wise with the NES or SNES Classic. I honestly think the Playstation Classic line-up is better than the NES Classic and pretty on par with the SNES. The NES and SNES Classic had great line-ups, but I would only say that there are about 2-3 games that really don't belong on the Playstation here.  I agree that they could have added better games overall and should have added Twisted Metal 2 instead of the original, but the variety of games included I would say is on par with the Nintendo Classics in terms of the genres offered up.

Sony really screwed the pooch on announcing the remaining games like this though. They should have thought this out a little better for sure. It would also have been cool if they would have included actual Memory Card ports and sold cards with more games on it. Would have been a fun way to expand the library over time and they'd easily be able to sell them for $20-$30 with a handful of games.

I would have been fine with a PlaystationStore-in-a-box model that came preloaded with 10 games and allowed the option to buy more.

Sorry but going to have to disagree.  NES classic had all the basic ones Mario, Punch Out, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Metroid which again needed to be in them.  Then being more of a SNES myself I have to say they left out Chrono Trigger and Turtles in Time (also could swap Kirby Dream Course with Dream Land 3) and that's pretty much it.  But with PSX classic I could rattle off a ton that they left out for games like Battle Arena, Mr Driller, Ridge Racer, Destruction Derby, etc.  I'm not saying these aren't fun games but to tell me people would want these over Silent Hill, Tomba, Xenogears, Legends of Dragoon that's where I don't understand.

Totally agree with you on this though as they had a golden opportunity even excluding the games and yet they still missed.  I mean for crying out loud it doesn't even come with a power cord.

I guess with a lot of these games I am factoring in licensing and other reasons why they wouldn't be included. Stuff like Tony Hawk, NFL Blitz, etc. I also didn't want to see the system full of a bunch of RPGs despite being a big fan of them myself, I wanted variety especially if these things are hard to hack and add more games. But yeah it's weird that they'd add Persona over Legend of Dragoon and I also find it odd that neither Resident Evil or Silent Hill made the cut. The Classic Playstation is far from perfect and I agree that the SNES had better games, NES is a bit more debatable for me as a lot of those games don't hold up great, which is the case for several of the games included in the Playstation here especially Rainbow Six and Battle Arena Toshiden.  I also wish they didn't include Final Fantasy VII and instead included a different (and better) RPG like Suikoden 2, Xenogears, or Legend of Dragoon. Nothing wrong with FF7, but if I am going to go back and play that game I'd rather do it on my PS4.

I am still going to get my pre-order, but like the NES and SNES I will barely play it. I guess for me a lot of the classic Playstation era games have been remastered or re-released one way or the other. My favorite game on the system is Castlevania: SotN, but I am really glad it wasn't included since I just bought Requiem, same goes for the Crash games, and Spyro. I couldn't see wanting to play any of those games on the original hardware or anything close to that versus the superior re-releases.

I think the list it pretty good but I've been reconsidering cause PS1 games haven't exactly aged well and an emulator can upconvert them,

I know. I have 2.

I mean something cheap, that only plays PS1/PS2 games, no proprietary memory cards, and outputs in 1080.  A retro PS emulator machine. It would also be cool if they built it inside a CD drive that will let you run your original disks through the emulators a la backwards compatible PS3s.

Battle Arena was one of its launch games that demonstrated the (early) power of the system and was marketed as the "Saturn killer" so it most definitely deserves a spot on something that is supposed to celebrate the original Playstation. The real issue is that they're limiting it to 20 games when the Playstation had so much more, and it's even more appalling when a lot of its more recognized exclusives and/or first party offerings (like Bushido Blade and Wipeout) are nowhere to be seen.

As some have said previously, this would have been so much better had it been RPG focused.  Many of the the RPGs on the PS1 (Ex. Azure Dreams, Alundra, Vandal Hearts, Vanguard Bandits, Final Fantasy Tactics, etc.) are the games that have aged the best.

And although some of them, like Final Fantasy Tactics, are available digitally on the PS3 many are not available on the PS4.  I've never had a PS3 so the best thing Sony could have done would be to release an RPG focused Playstation Classic that included games that have not been ported to the PS4.

They would have had me out the gate and I would have even considered getting more as gifts for more siblings.

The game list is beyond disappointing.  I was legitimately looking forward to buying this.

But Resident Evil did make the cut (though I wish it didn't.. who wouldn't prefer to play the remake over it?). TBH I'd rather it was more RPG focused. As stated before, those games aged the best. There were still plenty of good non-rpgs they could've gone with like Tomba, Medievil 1 + 2, Bushido Blade, Crash Team Racing, etc rather than the trash we got. Hardly anyone cares about Jumping Flash or Rainbow Six.. I think it was less about being able to afford licensing and more about Sony sticking with an extremely low budget.

Should’ve had one launch controller and one DualShock
Some of those games are rough with no stick, Oof

Would’ve had
Ape escape, parappa the rapper, tomb raider, crash team racing, medievil, mega man legends, silent hill, twisted metal 2

Apparently 8 gb what all of the games are combined so Sony went cheap, could’ve had 20 gb of games for $100

I’ll pass

It seems like MANY people are. One of my friends already did earlier and I am highly considering it too. MSRP is too high with the low amount of games. It won't be 'rare' nor hard to get, I can see it being discounted in the future.

I think if a huge number of people cancel their pre-orders, it will send a strong message to Sony. They kinda half-assed this list. I can't believe they didn't include their self published, high profile games (Legend of the Dragoon, Ape escape, Parapa come on top of my head, but I'm sure there are more). Nevertheless, Sony should have just allowed PS4s to play PS1 games instead of this piece of shiite.

FF7 and Castlevania should have at least been included. Yes I know a remaster came out recently, but you didn't see Nintendo cancel Secret of Mana on their SNES classic.

Super Puzzle Fighter is actually one of the best games on the list and still totally holds up.
