From the new Weekly Whats Update:

When will this new auto update be available? Will there be any noticeable changes to the game?

The auto update is currently undergoing a test pass and if all goes well, we anticipate it will be released on Xbox Live around the second week of July. This does mean that the new maps will be released beforehand, potentially resulting in a small spike in hacker encounters, but it will quickly level out when the update is implemented.

The AU is a "behind-the-scenes" change only and will not impact the actual gameplay or experience itself. Once it is released, players will be forced to download it in order to play any game of Halo 2 on Xbox Live.

Good news for all us non-cheaters. Hopefully, I can then go back to enjoy this game I love so much.

BIG FRICKIN' UPDATE

Cheat Update goes live today!

Yeah, no matter how fast it comes it can't come fast enough.

I once like Warlock and Containment, now, when it pops up I worry about getting rocketed before I even reach the tank.

This SHOULD change all that.

you never get rocketed, thats the work of a super BR, ive seen a dude do that shit, fires like 30 bullets, and its gone

The days before the auto-update are going to be Hell. HELL.

I'll have to stick to custom games, as there will be cheaters / modders. I don't really feel like getting pissed -- so pissed that piss will shoot out of every orifice of my body.
fuckin lame, i think im gonna hold off halo, maybe even take a week off soon
If you don't show up on Friday, don't bother coming in on Monday. :D

I was playing for quite a while today, and got cheated on twice by fucking flying snipers and vehicles. I don't know how they can snipe if the move so fast, I asume their crosshairs also move fast right?

it might have said you got sniped, but they have auto aim bots on their battle rifles, and sometimes they register as snipes instead of just regular BR kills

yeah, I played with some dipshit on Warlock yesterday who kept flying up to the top of the pedestal at the center. He just sat up there with the carbine and picked me off as I spawned each time until I just quit. I hate fucking quitting, but my kill/death ratio was going to be so pitiful that it would have hurt my rank more to stay in!

They need to give us that patch, and soon goddammit!
Ledhed edited it. Not me. He is white.
He was talking to Rad, actually. And both Rad and I used the actual date because tomorrow, this news will no longer be occuring on tomorrow.

But hey, it's ok. I know context and syntax are difficult to understand for tans.
but thats what post date, and edited date are for
How's about "that's what actual calendar dates independent of daily context are for"?

Then why didn't you add 2005 as well? Dick.
so this is coming out in the 21st century right? i need to make sure. Led, mr time and date, care to answer this for me?
"... ahh.. how long have...

... AHHH! Where am I? What is this?!

What year is it? How long?

You! Yes, you in the hovercraft! Who is President? Tell me!!!"

Don't be surprised if people leave their Xboxes on so that they can cheat throughout the week. It happened today to me on Sanctuary.

I had no idea that could be done! I think Craven said last night he had already been cheated on, I guess this is how. I hope they have one of those faulty cords and their Xbox burns to hell :bomb:

No. The way the update works is that it is easier for an automated system to tell that someone is cheating now and will ban them automatically after cheating once or twice. Then after awhile, the only people that will be able to cheat are new accounts but they will be level 1s and 2s and will be banned by level 3. They can't stop people from hacking, but bannings will be easier and faster with a computer doing the job instead of a human.

Also, standby has comeback in style. I got standbyed like 5 times yesterday and I still won every standby match. :D
It lags the person out way easier.

Nah. I think Bungie said that as soon as you sign onto Live, the server detects if you have modded / foreign content on your Xbox and won't let you play matchmaking until you remove said-content. So you don't have to play once, twice or three times a lady with a modded Xbox to get "banned" -- it's as soon as you sign on. It's not really a "ban", but it's close enough, I guess.

However, a lot of little kids left their Xboxes on during this update process so they didn't have to download the new update. So I got modded a couple times yesterday. Hopefully their mothers with unplug their Xboxes to vaccuum the cookie crums off of their playpen floors.
