Someone just scam me here, advice?

Just 20 minutes ago.  I sold my xbox game pass 6 month.  I send the code after I received the payment.  7 minutes after i send the code I got the paypal reversal unauthorized notice.

Dispute the reversal on Paypal (if it isn't already in one) and upload proof that you sent the item. Make sure they pay you via gift next time, too. I've returned payments made by people who tried paying for goods and services without sending them the item. They should eat the fees if they can't even follow directions.

I'd also post the proof that they scammed you, and also post their username and Paypal email. I know that people whine about having their information public, but if you're going to commit fraud then you've given consent for your username and Paypal email to be posted. Lost your rights to privacy by being a douche. Protecting and enabling people who scam others is the last thing we should be doing.

Isn't demanding gift payment look upon badly here?  the paypal message  was payment you received was made without the account holder's permission.  I would have to proof buyer have knowledge to it

Who is the user?

In these cases, feel free to call them out publicly.

Are they a long time member, or newer trader?

Here's my thoughts about this situation:

First things first, get with a moderator about this twat and also slap his ass with a negative feedback ASAP.

Also, before disputing your reversal, make sure to have all your evidence in order. Make sure you have a photo of the original code on something with the Xbox/Microsoft logo on it, proof that the code was sent, the entire conversation that lead to the botched trade, proof from Xbox/Microsoft that the code has been used, & all paperwork from Paypal regarding this transaction. Because, and you can trust me on this, if you don't have all the evidence then Paypal will just ignore your dispute and rule in the buyer's favor.

Finally, I don't know if CBIGSBY was hit with a Trading Timeout ("TTO") because of this thread, but his most recent feedback was a negative feedback in May from the user mousebites for scamming him out of a $40 Best Buy gift card for which he was supposed to receive God of War related games/items. If he was under a TTO before this transaction, you should've reported him to a moderator if he first contacted you, and not even contacted him at all if you contacted him. Any user under TTO or a Trading Ban should never be trusted until cleared by the Staff of CAG, period! Do your homework, people!

Either way, we feel your pain Xellos2099.

I think i have everything but evidence of CBIGSBY is the owner of the paypal account that send me the money other than the log of him paypal reverse 7 minute after  i pm him the code.

I don't really think you would need to prove that he owns the account, because the timing of this whole incident just screams that he scammed you. The only wrinkle here that I could see coming up is if he used a hacked PayPal account or stolen Credit Card information to pay you.

Either way, Paypal should tell you if they need anything more after you submit the initial dispute.

I got time stamp of him sending me payment at 5:35 pm and pm me about the code at 5: 36 p.m.  It also show i pm him the code at 5:38 p.m. and he filed the payment reversal at 5:43 p.m.

His recent negative feedback here does seem like a red flag.

Do you remember if he was on Trading Timeout when you spoke with him last time?

But yeah, it does appear there were some flags up at the time, so this is one of those situations if it doesn't work out, to be a bit more diligent in regards to trading history, and feedback as an indicator of the person you're trading with.

I usually also check the users  post history, and if you look at his last post, it was from two years ago, and those posts were also incredibly suspicious.

In any case, best of luck moving forward, and hope Paypal will be able to resolve the issue.

In the worst case i fail, i have his full name and paypal email address, is there a way for me to haunt him?
CBigsby

Clayton Bigsby the black white supremacist from The Chappelle show. LOL

Seriously though. I have found here the Mods can only help so much. They post a lot of do's and don't on buying.

I don't do a lot of transactions here but I never knew about the paypal F&F no no here until I got burnt. If the user here does not have decent feedback I am very careful now, They ship first or I wont bother.

The long time User Gordon Freeman was selling a switch and took the payment and disappeared. Not Gordon Freeman LOL In this case I was able to get a refund back from paypal but it is a pain. good luck

Man that really sucks. Something similar happened to me once, and they told me they don't provide those services for digital goods. I was pissed, but, yes, it was a good lesson for me. Sorry this happened to you.

I check out the real name that was from original paypal payment and there are 3 person with the same name and one of them live in my city.  the young of them relatively young guy who just finish community college.    Is it illegal for me to send him a haunting facebook message say i know who he is and I won;t stop haunting him till I get my money back?

I think you eat this one and move on. Always check feedback.

Did he provide a shipping address with his original payment? Sign him up for a bunch of junk mail.
I have done this before using a spam email service. The service in question is for people that want to "test" their spam filters so it is supposed to send you up to 5000 spam emails today. I put the culprits email address in there and agreed to a waiver saying I was using it for my own private use lol.

admittedly, I trust most users on this site pretty blindly.

I figure we are all just trying to help each other out.

Sucks to read stuff like this happening.

sry again.

i'll throw you a few bucks so you can get your drink of preference on me if you shoot me a pm.

Did you check out his feedback first before agreeing to the sale? I mean sure it doesn't help every time as someone could go bad, but you would have seen that his last feedback looks like it was also from him scamming someone

Not sure if he was already under trading review as stated on his profile from the prior action or this one. But if from before I would have avoided dealing with him if it were me as it's kind of a red flag. Sucks we have to deal with stuff like this but in my time here at least it's not very frequent and most members are good CAG's

Please post his Full Name, Ebay username, PayPal address/ID, & full physical address to this thread immediately.

I would severely recommend not doing either of these, as both can potentially open you both up to civil liability. Xellos2099 for harassment, and DarthPwner for misuse of personal information.

Stay smart and classy people, and don't stoop to their level.
