Has anyone ever had eBay or Paypal give them the wrong address, even though buyer had the right address? I purchased RDR2 and a few other games (older ones for the collection) during the recent 15% off promo on eBay and I used my parents address as I'd be staying there for a while.

I've been following the tracking for RDR2 because that's the game I was planning on playing over break and for some reason, it looks like it's going to my old address. Seller is saying that's the address he/she received but I'm checking my eBay transaction, PayPal transaction and emails and they all have my parents address. I have no idea how he got the other address but I'm pretty pissed because I was hoping to play RDR2 during my break and it's just gonna sit there until I get back and if I do want to play it, I'll need to buy another copy at full price (vs the $43 I paid for the eBay after discounts).

Sometimes sellers ship to the account address that's on file if it doesn't match the entered address. The reason is that people can hack other people's accounts and buy items with different shipping addresses, then you send it out only to find that the real buyer disputes it and you never get the item back. And this is fraud season.

My advice would be to sit on it as long as you can before leaving feedback. Or find a way to verify that you received the item at college. I wouldn't really blame the guy for covering himself, and I wouldn't buy a second copy unless you don't have time at college and are okay with losing money.

Oh ha, I'm not in college, those were the days. Just visiting my parents for the holidays.

Yeah, I had a neighbor confirm the package was at my door and it was what I ordered. Still pretty pissed, my parents address is confirmed/covered and whatnot. I just bought a 2nd copy here... gonna lose some money after I sell/trade/whatever with the copies but I only get a few weeks off every year, might as well enjoy it.
