New year means it's time for a new thread. Being the group of cheapassgamer's that we are, it's only natural that thrift stores would be one of our main areas to hit up. Though I honestly wonder what the point of this thread is since nobody posts their hauls anymore.

Here's last year's, the year before last's, the year before the year before last's, and yes, even the thread from four years ago if your looking for some motivation. Quite a big number of great finds to- oh wait, no there isn't.

Gotta say, I was very disappointed with last year's turnout. Knowledge is power, guys! Post your hauls!

I haven't been thrifting lately but last night I bought an XB1 500GB system with 2 controllers and Kinect for $65. I just tested it and it's in working condition. What are some good exclusive games for it? I'm mainly a PlayStation/PC gamer.

Some good exclusive to check out are Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Forza Motorsport5/6/7, Forza Horizon 2/3/4 , Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, etc. Make sure you check Xbox Game Pass as you can download and play full games to try before you buy. Right now you can get 1 month for $1.

Start here as there are a decent amount of games on sale for three more days if you don't mind buy digital: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/promotions/sales/countdown

Hmmm so your GW sells that Xbox One bundle for $65 and mine wants $45 for a Wii bundle........crazy how random the prices can be. I got a black 1st party Gamecube controller for $3 yesterday, probably came in with that Wii. I find it weird that theyll have these PS2s/Wiis every once and awhile but I never see any games!

I just purchased a Wii from my local thrift complete with box for $10, it also came with an extra Wii remote. Looks like it was barely used, and has the Gamecube connectors. $45 is way too much unless it includes some great games. Some of the mgmt. at thrift stores REALLY don't know what things are worth, which can be good...sometimes.

Thanks for the recommendations. I ended up getting Quantum Break and Sunset Break. I also signed up for $1 month Game Pass and Gold just to check it out.

Picked up a Wii System complete with cords, sensor bar, and Wiimote for $5.  It doesn't seem to read discs but otherwise it works perfectly and had a bunch of Virtual Console games on it.  I figured worse case scenario I can hack it and dump a bunch of games on it.

Just scored a SNES system bundle with 6 games, cables, & 2 controllers for $10 at Salvation Army. Games are Kirby Super Star, Mario All-Stars, R-Type, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Tetris/Dr. Mario, & Arkanoid.

I also saw a homemade 2-player arcade fightstick cabinet (Rasberry Pi setup inside) for $18. I'm reconsidering going back tomorrow after work and purchasing it but damn this thing is pretty huge. I live in a small place with 4 roommates. Not sure If I have to space for it.

They probably didn't know what the snes jr was. Nice score

1990 Christmas Alvin-$6. 1993 Star Trek TNG Tricorder-$1. Wii Nunchuk-$2. Fat PS2 with cables, memory card, and Champions of Norath game inside-$25. They wanted $40 for another PS2 just because it had a controller as well.... even though they sell those for $3 all the time!  Slim PS2, ac adapter, 2 controllers, memory card-$25. Would've passed on the fatty if I knew this would've been there the next day. Oh well, got some Craigslist trade bait now.

That tricoder looks amazing.

I found a Kirby Fright to the Finish DVD at a Salvation Army yesterday. I didn't even know Kirby had an animated show!

Yep, it was called "Kirby: Right Back at Ya" if I remember correctly. It aired on The Fox Box (back when that was a thing) around 2002 or so. It was pretty decent from what I recall.

its been tough finding stuff now. last year was hard.  but i foound my first switch items at the goodwill.

neon yellow joy cons, thinking about keeping them or making one with a dpad..

Not making a d-pad standard on the switch is my biggest beef with the system. I love platformers and I needed to get an 8bitdo usb device to pair my wii u pro controller just to have a decent d-pad to play mega man 11.

Matt Hazard for the win! If memory serves me correctly, Will Arnett does the voice work.

ID time. Can anyone help me figure out what this is? I know the Gibson Explorer for Guitar Hero is pretty collectible online, but I’ve never seen one that looks like this. These aren’t real signatures, thinking this is some sort of special edition?[attachment=31732:CF70FA56-F1D0-476A-93AE-DBE021E2F9D1.jpeg]

99c for a ps2 copy of FIFA 04. But inside was also ps1 discs of World Cup 98, David Beckham Soccer, FIFA 2000, and Medievil 2.

The best kind of finds.

Always. Check. Inside. The. Case.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Combo

Wii Sports Nintendo Selects Case (have the game and didn't want it going in the trash)

New Era Arizona Cardinals BCA Knit Cap (not my fav team, just love anything sports related)

Other finds:

Clothing

Vacuum bags

Local goodwill had 4 sealed vita games someone donated. (They were the promo copies with the hole punch over the UPC so probably review copies or something:

Tearaway
Little bigplanet
Sly collection
MLB 13

99 cents a pop. Bought all 4. Sweet easy score.

I think a couple of Goodwills around me know that some of us gamers, including myself, only donate items to their stores if we find good stuff ourselves. Or maybe they realize you need to actually have good stuff at the brick and mortars to keep customers. Or maybe they're just cool. Why do I think this?

Just under $3 complete and near mint:

Nice! I still have mine that I found at Savers 2 years ago.

Picked these up for $3.99 each. Harvest Moon is complete, Mario is disc only.[attachment=31798:IMG_6792.JPG]

Earlier in the day, I found this PS One (empty, no controller, equipped with third party RFU adapter for PS2) for $4.98. Second one I've found at that price.

After buying a jigsaw puzzle at another Goodwill today I decided to take a quick look over the jewelry counter next to the exit. There was this bag of 16 Sega Genesis games for $39.98. Also included was a Sega Genesis Game Genie, and, oddly enough, Game Boy manuals, a football card, and a quarter. I don't do loose but couldn't pass this up.

Lucky bastard. I paid $25 for mine on eBay. Worth every penny, of course.

lol I got excited thought I found me a Solid Snake Walkman from MGSV.

Note: I wished it was the Guardians of The Galaxy Sony TPS-L2

I had to go back a few pages just to see what I last posted! Goodwill finds have been pretty slow lately. As you will see when I post in the Pickups thread, Facebook/CL have been great. Not pictured is a $3 red DualShock 3 that doesnt appear to do anything except flash the 4 red lights. Got a very clean pair of Vans Atwoods for $20 and 2 Wiimotes/Nunchuks for $3 apiece (she rang them up as sets, all 4 parts were actually suppose to be $3 apiece!).  Picked up the lunchboxes with thermoses for $3 apiece and the PS2 games were $2 apiece for some reason. Games are usually $4 apiece (they werent the half off color).

I dont get it.... how is Goodwill gonna put $40 on a Wii?! Theyve done that before and they dont sell! Put $15-$25 on that and quickly get rid of it!

Picked up an excellent condition Sonic Spinball case from GW yesterday. Couldnt find the game the day before or yesterday. Told the girl I actually have a copy of the game and could use the case. Got it for 50 cents.

Makes me wonder if something else came in that I missed. One lonely Genesis case seems odd.

I always feel that way when I see some lonely sports titles on the shelf. I'm sure some people only bought sports titles but I think it is safe to assume that most collections featured some games from other genres as well.
