CAGs would be proud. I passed on RE2 at $40 because I will wait on a lower price. So I did the only sane thing instead. Bought Borderlands 1 remastered for $30($10 after bing credit). Backlog is looking fierce.

Gold plus Game Pass is pretty much where it's all been headed. If you can still get it from MS Rewards, I'm okay if they consolidate. Otherwise, the price seems a little high if you're only buying Gold (with actual monies) at the $40 a year mark.

Haven't seen anyone mention this yet.  Multiple outlets are reporting that Microsoft is planning to offer Xbox Game Pass Ultimate which is Game Pass plus a subscription to Gold for $14.99/month.

I guess it's a deal for people who are subscribing monthly for Game Pass and for Gold ($5 savings), but for people who can find better deals, it's not really a great deal.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't paying $14.99 a month the same price as each individually if you're buying a year of gold at retail of $60 and gamepass at $120? I don't see a reason for it besides convenience unless they offer more of a discount for having both of their subscriptions.

Even if they offered a discount it wouldn't be significant enough for most CAGs I'd assume. I'm paying around 50% retail for the two currently.

A shocking number of people likely stop buying annual subs and just let it renew through the website. Instead of $60/year renewal, it's set at $40 every 6 months. My ex partner does this and just figures "$10 a month is reasonable!" Although she never plays games online and rarely redeems GWG, and I think a lot of people do this out of laziness.

From a marketing standpoint, a single premium subscription makes plenty of sense, especially for new customers. Us nerds who have done the math and buy every console and have huge backlogs are not the target consumers.

Trying to decide if I want to get RE2 for $40 or not. I have never played any of the REs (shameful, I know) but was thinking about starting to go through the collection that I got when they priced them so low a year or so back and have hard amazing things about this remake. What are the odds it will drop lower in the next few months?

RE2 remake is one of the best games of the year and could be considered a top game this generation.

It will eventually hit $20 on some sale be years end, but $40 is a great price and worth every penny.

Xbox Live Gold for $5 a month adds up to the $60 a year MSRP. There's not much to say to that. Well, I guess it would be good for people who don't regularly subscribe to Game Pass or Xbox Live Gold. Isn't a single month of Xbox Live Gold $10? People who only want Gold for one month can get it at the yearly discounted price if they subscribe to Game Pass at the same time. It will be useful if they want to check out a game for one month, and give it's multiplayer a shot.

On second thought, this could actually be a good deal for me in the future. I'm thinking of picking up an Xbox One this Black Friday, then I'll just subscribe to Game Pass every now and then when I feel like playing one of Microsoft's exclusives (most are first-party, and are in Game Pass). I doubt I'll regularly subscribe to Xbox Live Gold, but depending on which game I'm playing in Game Pass I might like to have Gold for one month.

Resident Evil 5 I will never stop recommending for coop simply because it's fun and it has a nag button. It's also when the series does all the drugs and decides to have the greatest quick time event ever in a game. I Have it on 360, XBox One and possibly my PS4. Can't wait to play it again when it mysteriously appears on another one of my consoles with no recollection of how I got it.

Are you referring to the QTE where Chris punches a boulder?

Tempted to give up on my PS4.  Between Netflix, Hulu, X1 games, and my Switch, I just don't see the time to get around to "those awesome exclusives" that PS offers.  I can probably cash it all in at Gamestop for $300 or so.

Is there anything else as great? Especially in the white zebra pimp suit.

I 100% just did this...literally had PSVR for PS4 and that was it, so I sold it all on Swappa piecemeal that netted me better bucks than flea-bay or Gamestop...I really wanted to care about PS exclusives, but I kept going back to X1 for everything multi-platform anyways...

If it's not even the best game through a year that we're still in april, I have a hard time believing its anything near a top game of the generation.

Any discussion like this is all opinion based, so there's no right or wrong. But there's always a consensus and you seem to pride yourself on being in the minority. It's definitely in my personal top three so far for the year along with DMC5 and The Division 2 as I think those are head and shoulders above the rest.

Ever since getting my X1X I have fired up the ps4 once.. I’m keeping it, but yeah... it’s a dust magnet anymore.

Started this gen super strong, finished super weak. Xbox and Nintendo are much better. And for Nintendo that’s a huge deal (for me anyway)

Edit: The Division 2 is my personal top contender for goty, nothing else comes close. (Got to world tier 4 100% solo) And I see nothing on the horizon (yet) that I think could beat it. I don’t do fighters anymore, and I’ve never cared for the RE series (flame suit is on)

I'm not saying it's not good, but the guy I quoted said its "one of the top games of the generation" even though it's not even the top game of its year very early on in the year.

I think I've only picked up 1 2019 release so far, and I don't know if it can be dethroned from its current default place as my personal GOTY - Tetris 99.

My game of the year so far is Infamous: Second Son because it's the last game I remember beating this year and because holding a controller sideways and pretending it's a spray paint can is one of the most gimmicky and ingenious things ever this generation.

I've never been to Chicago, but if I were to go :

  • Cubs game at Wrigley Field (they have a home series vs. the Diamondbacks next Fri-Sun)
  • Field Museum of Natural History - Sue the T-rex and the rest of the dinosaurs
  • Whatever the Sears Tower is now called

Check out “disc replay” they got a bunch around different locations. I find the prices to be decent. They got games, movies, toys...if your into to box games they don’t seem to tax for that.

During that discussion on best comedies, know a few people mentioned Chuck. The complete series is on sale on iTunes for $19.99 today.

I'm going to see that Chuck superhero movie tonight.  :)
