Coming into the party five months late... holy crap I really enjoy Apex Legends. And I really didn't think I would, from the aesthetic and general feel from the trailers... couldn't get into Fortnite and I've never been a fan of "fast" shooters like COD. But damn if there aren't some nice little touches I've discovered with some friends... I like how the game tells you easily whether the item in front of you is better or worse than the item you currently have. I like discovering the little radar towers that tell you where the circle will close down next. I love playing as Pathfinder and creating a quick escape via zipline. I like getting a second chance at life, if your teammates can get to your banner quick enough. I love SLIDING. Just... wow, a really neat, polished game. And for free.
We only started playing a few nights ago but after almost a year of solidly playing Halo Wars 2, PUBG and Rocket League in that order, I think this might topple them - we played for 5 straight hours this morning, something we haven't done in ages. I'd seriously be okay spending money on some of the characters, considering how much fun I've had for free already. (plus the current punchcard for buying 1,000 coins, and my EA Access 10% discount, helps.)
It's the closest I've felt to Team Fortress 2, now that we've gotten to grips with the characters and how they compliment each other.
