Was really hoping for a $20 pre GCU on AC Oddessy this week but no go. GS will have to do. I'll probably by Red Dead before the weeks done

I think BB has completely given up on competing until all the GCU memberships expire. Almost like they have a grudge against people with it still lol...cutting off their nose to spite their face.

You’re probably right about the grudge but I think they actually keep close tabs and keep their prices around what it takes for GCU to take down the price of everyone else. Just like AC last week being at $24.99. Ugh.

More so I dislike that though for the people that don’t have GCU because their forced to pay more. (I know they can always price match but it’s the principle

What's the deal with the Gamestop 'exclusive' steelbook edition now that there's a regular 'steelbook edition' for RDR2? Are they lying about it being an 'exclusive' steelbook? It looks exactly the same.

It is incredible how much I have not spent there. Cuts down on a ton of impulse movie buys or even just thinking about replacing big stuff because I don't see it.
 
Nice price on RDR but my backlog is almost through with. It'll be this price again later this year and perhaps even cheaper.

GCU increased my backlog. Cause it was on sale, and then 20% cheaper... I *HAD* to have it.

Now i'm waiting for digital currency sales so i can take advantage of a digital sale.

Same drug, different delivery...

 
Last week on GCU.  Looks like the last time I will be taking advantage of it.

For those on the fence about rdr2- just buy it and enjoy it now. It’s a fantastic game and worth every dollar at msrp of $60- at $40 or less with gcu there should be no hesitation. It looks gorgeous on my xb1x.

Newegg still has AC: Odyssey for $18 for the next 15 hours (XB1 too, for those interested). Saves a couple bucks on the game and a few more on shipping over GS. I also feel slightly better about giving NE my money instead of GS, but that's obviously personal preference. Only way GS comes out cheaper is by picking it up instore, which is worth a dollar to avoid in my book.

yeah RDR 2 totally worth it if you like slow, immersive games and love Western genre's I've been playing a few hours every week for months now and love it.

Perhaps cost, yet the main reason for me is half assed games coming out at $60 to be inevitably fixed with a lot more content and QoL fixes months later. Then the game is half price and a much better experience. To me it's asinine to buy a game at launch anymore.

Is Ralph Breaks The Internet steelbook is it going to be super limited or is Best Buy holding back on preorders? It’s sold out for preorders within 250 miles of DFW. I put in a preorder at my backup Best Buy since my main Best Buy was sold out since it’s a lower tier store.

If its like most of the other BBE steelbooks that are sold out for preorder, check their website around 1 to 1:30am on release date. Most stores put additional copies for sale then.

I had mine already delivered and for the first time ever actually came with a bad dent on the cover. Had to go to the store and they were able to just swap it with a pristine one. They had 29 so I'm certain there will be plenty day one.

Ralph will be decently stocked in stores. Cap and Mermaid are going to be very limited.

 
Can anyone comment if AC7 is worth $40 (after GCU) or is this a title that I should wait until it hits $29.99 to grab? I've never really played any of the Ace Combat games but by all accounts the graphics are gorgeous on this one, with lots of different planes and stuff. Just torn. Especially with DMC5, TD2, etc coming out soon.

I like it. Definitely a cool change of pace. Gave me a nice arcade feel. Now as for if it's worth $40. I'd say yes but that's me. Everything is a better at a lower price. You say there are other things you are looking forward to so waiting may backfire. If you have 49 bucks it's a good play if the videos intruige you, I say go for it.

I know Jesse Cox said he's been playing a lot. Not using that as an endorsement as much as someone you can watch videos of gameplay from someone that's put in some time with the game.

Glad the Marvel 4k are starting to show, shame not starting with one I'd buy. I may look into getting a code.

I almost missed this. I didn't start collecting the steelbooks until Winter Soldier so I'm trying to backfill without spending like $70-$100 on the original versions on ebay. I found a reasonably priced Iron Man one from Germany, so with this one I just need the first two Thor films and Iron Man 2 and 3.

To continue the GCU convo, now that it is dead I pretty much only buy the Marvel steelbooks from Best Buy.

To my knowledge, they didn't start the US steelbooks (and they've all been Best Buy) until Thor 2. They've since gone back and done Avengers 1 and now Cap 1 for the 4K releases, and there was (might still be) an Incredible Hulk steelbook floating around from the old studio that produced it.

I think that just leaves the Iron Man trilogy, and the first Thor. Maybe they'll do those eventually and I can have a complete Marvel steelbook set... that would be nice.
